Attention, trainers. You will likely get another chance to catch Crypto-Mewtwo in Pokémon GO. Dataminers are revealing what is coming our way.
What is it about? The Pokeminers dataminers keep a close eye on code changes in Pokémon GO and have kept the community updated in the past. This way, the community already knew about exciting new content like the research for GO Fest, which later was actually activated in the game.
In one of the latest findings by the dataminers, there are new types of eggs and Crypto-Mewtwo, which is again connected with Team GO Rocket.

Release of Crypto-Mewtwo again?
What the dataminers show: In the latest finding report (via reddit), it is about Team GO Rocket, Crypto-Mewtwo, and a new special research.
The dataminers write that a change has occurred with the “Crypto eggs“, which are now called “strange eggs”.
So far, it looks like
- Strange eggs are dropped as loot by Rocket leaders (such as Arlo, Sierra and Cliff)
- To be able to pick them up, you need free space in your egg inventory
- From them hatch Poison and Dark-type Pokémon
How will Crypto-Mewtwo be available? It seems that you will have a chance at the monster by completing new special research. Your first opportunity to catch Crypto-Mewtwo was through the special research “Strait to Victory” at GO Fest 2020.
The new special research is currently divided into 6 chapters. Willow speaks to you trainers and says according to the leak:
“You have to save Crypto-Mewtwo, trainers! I have a feeling Giovanni plans to exploit this poor Pokémon for nefarious purposes.”
“You did it again, trainers. You defeated the Rocket Grunts, the leaders, and Giovanni.
Not to mention all the Crypto-Pokémon, including Crypto-Mewtwo, that you freed along the way.”
So here you have another chance to catch Crypto-Mewtwo. But keep in mind that you should not immediately redeem your Crypto-Pokémon. This is also important for Mewtwo – if possible, you should not redeem it at all. Because the Crypto bonus is incredibly strong.
How strong is it? In a July analysis, PokémonGOHub.net declared Crypto Mewtwo the best attacker in PvE, that is, in raids. It deals the highest neutral damage per second and has a variety of attacks that it can learn. Because these attacks correspond to different types, it is usable in many areas.
While it may not be as strong in PvP as in PvE, it is an attacker that every trainer should have in their collection.
