In Pokémon GO today, on May 1st, a Raid Day will run for three hours. During this time, you will also receive free Raid Passes and a higher chance of Shinies. We will show you the event details.
What is this event? On April 29th, the event “A Mega Moment” started in Pokémon GO with special research, new spawns, changed field research rewards, and the new Mega Kangaskhan.
As part of this event, a three-hour Raid Day with the new Mega Kangaskhan takes place this Sunday.
The Raid Day with Kangaskhan at a glance
When does it start? The Raid Day with Mega Kangaskhan begins at 11:00 AM local time. It will then last for three hours and end at 2:00 PM local time.
What bonuses are there? During the event, Mega Kangaskhan will appear more frequently in Mega Raids. As some trainers who have already participated in other time zones report, the Kangaskhan Raids last for 6 hours per gym (via reddit.com). So you have enough time to assemble a team.
Additionally, the chances of encountering Shiny Kangaskhan during the event are increased.
To allow you to participate in some raids without spending coins, you will receive free passes. During the event and up to two hours afterwards, you can receive a total of 5 free Raid Passes by spinning photo discs at gyms.
At the beginning of the event in the earliest time zones, Mega Kangaskhan had 47,948 CP in the Raid. This made the raids harder and caused trainer groups to increase their members from 2 to at least 3. A few hours later, the error was corrected, and Kangaskhan has 37,140 CP in Mega Raids, making it possible to defeat it in pairs with the right counters again.
Next week, there will be an exciting change in the raids: The first legendary Mega Pokémon are coming.
