Why is the event taking place? Hamburg is celebrating the Long Night of Museums and Niantic is an official partner. Therefore, they cannot resist contributing a small event to the celebrations in Pokémon GO.
This is what the event offers: To make the museum visit in Hamburg worthwhile, Niantic is bringing over 50 new PokéStops into the game, all located near the museums. The developers also mention a “rare Pokémon” that will appear more frequently during the event.
Mini-Event in Hamburg – Is it worth it?
When does the event start? This event will run for one day only – on May 18. The Long Night of Museums runs from 6 PM to 2 AM. Presumably, the bonuses from Niantic will be active for that long as well.
What is known about the rare Pokémon? Niantic has remained silent on this so far. Some players suspect Unown, as this Pokémon has often appeared at regional events. For instance, this was the case at the MAG in Erfurt.
Recently, however, there were two events in Berlin where no Unown appeared, but instead, Teddiursa and Bronzor and Magnemite were present. It’s also possible that Niantic is planning with a different Pokémon here.
Is the trip to Hamburg worth it? The idea of linking a cultural event with Pokémon GO is great. So if you enjoy visiting museums, you will get a lot out of this trip and can combine it with Pokémon GO.
However, if you are only traveling to Hamburg to participate in the event, the trip may not be as worthwhile. After all, there are only PokéStops and a Pokémon that is not yet known. Players from Hamburg and the surrounding area should definitely check out the event, as the rare Pokémon might be something special.
