In Pokémon GO, trainers are currently searching in vain for the Team GO Rocket leader Giovanni. He has been missing since the beginning of the new season. However, there is a recent find of a new Crypto-monster that gives the community hope for the Rocket boss. We, from MeinMMO, will show you what happened.
What is it about? Trainers in Pokémon GO have the opportunity to solve a special research task at regular intervals, through which they can obtain a special Super Rocket Radar. With this radar, the big Team GO Rocket boss Giovanni can then be tracked down.
With the start of the Season of Mischief, Niantic announced that Giovanni had disappeared and that trainers cannot find him with their radar. Furthermore, no new special research regarding Giovanni has been published so far. However, a recent finding by the PokeMiners gives trainers hope.

The PokeMiners are a group of data miners who regularly search the game code of Pokémon GO for new information. They make their findings available to other trainers through their homepage and social media.
Now the PokeMiners have published their current findings on Twitter and Reddit. According to them, they have come across an image and individual data about a new legendary Crypto-Pokémon: Lugia.
Their post features an image of Lugia against the typical Crypto-background. However, it is noticeable that this monster has no flames and red eyes, as is common with other Crypto-Pokémon. The PokeMiners also point this out in their post on Reddit.
As martycochrane writes: ‘To be clear: There were no new assets, period. Normally, a Pokémon’s 3D assets also get flames and red eyes when it becomes a Crypto, and Lugia has not yet received this. There is still a possibility that the version from ‘The Dark Gale’ will be pushed out, but we have to wait and see.’ (via reddit.com).
‘The Dark Gale’ refers to the game Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness for the Nintendo GameCube, in which a special Crypto-form of Lugia plays the main role.
How the community reacts to this finding
This post is causing a lot of discussion among trainers on social media. Many players hope that they will be able to face the Rocket boss Giovanni again soon. They are especially speculating on Twitter about when this monster might become available and whether it can be obtained from Giovanni (via twitter.com).

However, the opinions on Crypto-Lugia are varied within the community. Some trainers, like PartyroseYT1, are happy that they can finally hunt a legendary Crypto-Pokémon again (via twitter.com).
While BravoDelta23 hopes that Niantic will give trainers multiple opportunities to obtain this Pokémon, the user ptmcmahon recommends that players save their Super Rocket Radars for Lugia (via reddit.com).
Lugia version ‘The Dark Gale’: However, other players are not thrilled about this monster. This is mainly because they wished for Crypto-Lugia to look different in Pokémon GO. Their desired version of Lugia is based on the game ‘Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness’, where the monster is the main Pokémon.
Thus, Northeast Philly Raids is also sad. He shares a graphic of the desired Lugia in the comments and writes: ‘No! This Lugia is not good. This is what we wanted.’ (via twitter.com).
Trainer FlareBlaze also expresses his disappointment: ‘I thought they would give him the design from Pokémon XD.’ (via twitter.com).
Also on Reddit, some players are sad about this version of Lugia. User YutoMaikeru writes: ‘As someone who is a big fan of Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness, this is a disappointment.’ (via reddit.com)
Is there still hope for the right Lugia version?
As the PokeMiners have already mentioned in their post, their findings are always unofficial data, which is why Niantic still has the option to make changes before a release occurs.
This hope is also not to be given up by NotSkirtWeather, who writes on Reddit: ‘I know I will be disappointed, but I refuse to give up hope. This could be one of the biggest hypes of all time if it happens.’ (via reddit.com).
This opinion is also shared by TheMadJam: ‘Yes, it is the noticeable absence of Giovanni that gives me hope.’ (via reddit.com).
