In Pokémon GO a new feature could be released: It seems that in the future you will be able to let your Pokémon compete in contests. A new leak suggests this.
What kind of leak is this? In Pokémon GO a new update is available and data has been added to the game.
This prompted the Pokeminers to take action. This group of dataminers is known for regularly scanning the code of Pokémon GO for new content, thus providing an early overview of what features might be coming to the game.
This was also the case again. In a new report, the Pokeminers listed numerous things they found in the game’s code (via pokeminers.com). One of the most exciting details points to a new feature: the “Contests.”
What could “Contests” become in Pokémon GO? Dataminers give hints
What kind of feature will this be? Essentially, the details and especially the release timeline for the feature are still unclear. However, the Pokeminers have already found some points that outline what the contests might involve.
According to the dataminers, the new contests are to be added to PokéStops. They can randomly appear, similar to the Team Rocket spawns, and will be activated when you are nearby. They are expected to appear at regular intervals.
Moreover, the contests are said to bring rewards. Multiple reward sets per contest are possible, and you should be able to run multiple contests simultaneously – but not an unlimited number.
When participating in a contest, according to Pokeminers, you should always be able to deploy one Pokémon for it. Different values could then be compared.
Now the Pokeminers speculate that the feature could work in such a way that you deploy a monster there, which is then compared with others – and the winner ultimately receives the rewards. A size comparison could be conceivable, as new XXS and XXL forms have recently been introduced in the game. However, the exact functionality is still unclear.
For context: There have also been “contests” in the main games of the Pokémon series from time to time since Ruby and Sapphire. There, Pokémon were also compared with each other, not in the form of battles, but by having to make a good impression on the jury.
It is conceivable that this will now also be implemented in a similar form in Pokémon GO. However, this is currently just speculation.

However, one should always keep in mind that these are leaks, not official information. Whether and when the content will be implemented in the game is therefore open.
