In Pokémon GO, comprehensive changes are coming to the raids. We have summarized all currently known innovations here.
What are these changes? There is a lot going on in Pokémon GO right now. The Mega Evolutions will be introduced on Thursday, August 27th, in the form of new raids. And that’s not the only change regarding raids.
As the Megas are introduced, the raids of levels 2 and 4 will disappear from the game. In the future, these will be combined with levels 1 and 3.
- Monsters of level 2 will join level 1
- Monsters of level 4 will be added to level 3
The rewards are expected to align with the higher level, while the difficulty becomes somewhat easier.
Why are the two levels being removed? Product Manager Matt Slemon explained to Newsweek that many raids currently serve the same niche. Thus, levels 1 and 2 could both be completed by individual players. Level 3 raids were a challenge for experienced solo players, and level 4 sat right in between and dealt with raids featuring legendary monsters like Heatran.
“We wanted to make it easier to find the most desirable raids. Especially for those who do not have raids nearby,” Slemon explains.
Even more changes to raids
What else is changing about the raids? Besides the removal of the two levels, the old team damage bonus will also be removed.
In place of the team bonus, a speed bonus will be implemented. The faster the raid boss is defeated, the better the rewards will be.
“We were not happy with how the team bonus worked,” says Slemon to VG247. Players would divide into smaller groups because of the bonus instead of playing together. Players in the minority would not be rewarded.
However, the bonus for the team holding the gym before the raid remains: “As long as it’s a gym, it’s meant for competition. But as soon as it becomes a Pokémon, it should be cooperative.”
An official announcement of the information through Niantic’s channels is still pending. However, raids are not the only thing that is changing: Pokémon GO has also tweaked the spawns.
