During the Community Day with Chikorita, Meganium can learn the move Frenzy Plant. How strong is it in Pokémon GO and what does the community say about it?
In a few days, the Community Day in September begins. The special creature on this day is the Grass-type Pokémon Chikorita, which belongs to the starters from Generation 2. Its second evolution can learn the move Frenzy Plant during the event. The impact on the meta is therefore only minimal.
Meganium learns Frenzy Plant in Pokémon GO
With the announcement of the special Community Day move, the developers at Niantic are always taking their time. Only a few days before the start of the event it will be officially announced which move the special species of the event learns.
Frenzy Plant has been learned by other Pokémon: Now it is clear that Meganium can also learn the move, which has already been learned by Venusaur. If you evolve Bayleef to Meganium during the event, it will learn Frenzy Plant.
How strong will Meganium become? In the community, the question quickly arose whether Meganium will become stronger than Venusaur. Trainers want to know if a new top attacker is sprouting up. However, that’s not the case. Meganium with Frenzy Plant is by no means as strong as Venusaur with Frenzy Plant.
Initial battle simulations and value comparisons have already been conducted. They show that Meganium with Frenzy Plant is ranked around 13th or 14th among the best Grass-type attackers when comparing DPS values. In the simulation, an opponent was used that is only vulnerable to Grass-type moves.
This is what the community says: The excitement over the announcement of Frenzy Plant is limited. While Meganium will become a stronger attacker, it didn’t make a significant leap forward among top attackers. Nonetheless, it’s worth evolving such a Meganium during the Community Day. Even if it’s just for your collection.
Even though the criticism from the community sounds harsh, Meganium with Frenzy Plant is not useless. It simply does not perform as well in combat values as others.
When does the Community Day start? The Community Day in September starts on Saturday, September 22, at 11:00 AM. As usual, the event will be active for 3 hours and ends at 2:00 PM. The Community Day with Eevee even lasted 2 days.
What bonuses are there? The special Pokémon of the day is Chikorita. It will appear much more frequently in the wild. Additionally, you will receive 3x XP for catching Pokémon. Lures will last for 3 hours again.
Shiny Chikorita? At the Community Day in September, shiny Pokémon are expected to be available again. So far, the special Pokémon at these events have always appeared in their shiny forms. Therefore, it is assumed that you will encounter shiny Chikorita during the event.
The dates for the next Community Days have already been set. These are the days for the Community Day in Pokémon GO in October and November.
