Currently, there is a big celebration in Pokémon GO as the game turns 6 years old. Just in time for the anniversary, trainers can look forward to a new image that significantly boosts speculation about new Pokémon. We at MeinMMO show you what it’s all about.
What image are we talking about? Today, on July 6, 2022, Pokémon GO turns 6 years old and is hosting a big anniversary event. For this occasion, Niantic reflects on the past years in a short statement on their blog.
However, many players find the artwork created for the game’s anniversary by Yusuke Kozaki (responsible for character design, Pokémon GO) much more interesting. The graphic is causing quite a stir on Reddit.
The graphic shows 6 new Pokémon and gives trainers hope
What does the image show? The image for the birthday anniversary mainly features a lot of familiar faces. Monsters such as Pikachu, Psyduck, Charmander, and Mega Latios and Mega Latias can be found there.
Various trainers, the team leaders Blanche, Candela, and Spark, as well as Professor Willow, are also part of the graphic. Upon closer inspection, one can also spot one or two new Pokémon hiding in the crowd.
Thus, the Reddit community suspects that the image could be a hidden announcement, hinting at the possible addition of 6 new Pokémon from the 6th and 7th generations, as well as their pre-evolutions and evolutions in the game.
Especially the Pokémon Mimikyu, Accup and Tortunator stand out prominently in the front part of the image, next to Candela. Additionally, Vivillon and the legendary Pokémon Cosmog are visible in the image. And the Dusk Form of Lycanroc is also hiding in the graphic.
Trainers hope for the upcoming release of the monsters
Mimikyu in particular creates a lot of excitement. The Pokémon from the 7th generation belongs to the types Ghost and Fairy and visually resembles Pikachu. Trainers have been hoping for its debut for quite some time. But the other Pokémon also generate significant excitement among Reddit users.
For this reason, some hope that the showcased monsters will arrive this year. The following comments can thus be found under the Reddit post (via reddit.com):

Is a release of the shown monsters conceivable?
How was it in the past? In recent years, Pokémon GO has repeatedly released such artworks for their game anniversary. These also featured both Pokémon that were already available in the game as well as new monsters.
Last year, for example, one could see Pokémon like Meloetta, Flamiau, Bauz, Robball, and Felinara in the image, which could eventually be found in the game. However, Mega Mewtwo was also teased in it, which is still not catchable in Pokémon GO.
What are the chances? The chances for a possible release of the shown Pokémon are quite good, although last year’s example also shows that it can happen that we are still waiting for the debut of certain monsters in 2023.
This is also confirmed by the Reddit user TheRoyale27 (via reddit.com): “Before anyone gets hopes up about hints for future releases: Mega Lucario was shown on the artwork for the 4th anniversary and still hasn’t appeared.”
