In Pokémon GO you can recently encounter Gierspenst. But to evolve it, you need a lot of gold coins. A YouTuber has now explained how he collected enough in just one day. We at MeinMMO show you how you can do it too.
Which Pokémon is it about? In Pokémon GO, on February 27, 2023, the ghost Pokémon Gierspenst made its debut, at least for those who also play Pokémon Scarlet or Violet on the Nintendo Switch. The two main series games can now be connected with the mobile game and, similar to the Wonder Box, give you encounters with Gierspenst.
Last November, Gierspenst briefly appeared in its wandering form in Pokémon GO and gave a first glimpse into the Paldea region. It tracked the trainers and let them collect mysterious golden coins at golden PokéStops. Now they can finally be used.
They are needed to evolve Gierspenst into the steel and ghost Pokémon Monetigo. You have to collect diligently, as it takes a total of 999 gold coins for one evolution.
A YouTuber secured these in just one day. We have summarized how he did it and how you can do it too.
YouTuber secures over 1,000 gold coins in one day
Which YouTuber is it about? The Pokémon GO YouTuber Nicholas “Trainer Tips” Oyzon regularly reports on his channel about news in the game and gives other players tips on how to progress better in Pokémon GO. He also connected after the Pokémon release with the Nintendo Switch to secure Gierspenst.
In his video from March 6, 2023, he shows how he managed to collect enough gold coins in just one day to get Monetigo.
How Trainer Tips collected the many gold coins
These preparations he made: As Trainer Tips explains in his video, he initially sent a postcard from Pokémon GO to the Nintendo Switch for 5 consecutive days to secure a golden lure module.
This currently lasts for 30 minutes after activation and rewards you with gold coins and more items when spinning the PokéStop. This way, you can receive between 5 and 25 Gierspenst coins, as the gold coins are called in the game, with each spin. After spinning a stop, it requires a cooldown of 5 minutes before you can activate the photo disk again.

Support from the community: To collect as many coins as possible, Trainer Tips called on other players who also have golden lure modules the day before via his Twitter account to meet. This way, they could set off the modules together in one location with as many PokéStops as possible.
Many trainers responded to this call, as shown in Trainer Tips’ video, as nearly all PokéStops in his area had golden lure modules set. His plan worked out. He and all other trainers were able to take advantage of the time to spin the photo disks as often as possible.
How many coins was Trainer Tips able to secure? According to the YouTuber, he secured about 1,200 gold coins through the action that day – more than enough to evolve a strong Gierspenst to Monetigo.
And that should obviously not be the last “golden lure module party,” as can be seen from his Twitter account. He is already advertising the next meeting there:
Community is excited – Wants to start own parties
In the comments on YouTube and Twitter, trainers are celebrating the idea of the “golden lure module party,” as this type of event is called by Trainer Tips himself. Some want to follow the YouTuber’s lead in their local communities and organize similar meetings (via youtube.com):

- Matthew Vargas: “We should all do this on the next Community Day. If it lasts the entire duration (as it usually does), a lot of people will finally be able to get their evolution.”
This is why a C-Day might be suitable: From the perspective of some players, the upcoming Community Day with Flegmon would be particularly suitable. This is partly because on such a day, more trainers usually show up at places with many stops, and also, the monthly C-Days usually offer extended effectiveness for lure modules.
Therefore, trainers hope that the golden lure module will last for 3 hours. Then one could collect even more coins. However, it remains to be seen whether this will actually be the case or whether Niantic will make an exception for this module as well, as with the daily adventure incense.
