Mega-Kangaskhan returns to Pokémon GO. How do you catch it? You can read about it here.
When is the Mega Raid Day? On Saturday, May 3, 2025. It runs from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
What’s special about Mega-Kangaskhan? The raid with Mega-Kangaskhan gives you the opportunity to secure the normal Kangaskhan. Why is that exciting? Because Kangaskhan is one of the regional Pokémon that cannot actually be caught here.
So it’s a very good chance to secure the Pokédex entry if you don’t have Kangaskhan yet – and of course, to collect Mega Energy for the Mega Evolution.
Additionally, you will also receive an increased shiny chance on every Kangaskhan you catch from a Mega Raid on Raid Day. Accordingly, collectors also have a good opportunity here to secure a coveted shiny Pokémon.
Furthermore, every Kangaskhan you catch from a Mega Raid during the event will know the move “Stomp”.
How will you utilize the day? We summarize it for you here.
Mega Raid Day with Mega-Kangaskhan – Contents, Bonuses, Tips
Utilize bonuses on Mega Raid Day: Basically, some bonuses are active during the event that you should take advantage of.
The most important are the five free raid passes you can get during the event. With the standard raid pass you receive every day, you can reach up to six passes.
But: The next free pass is only available once you have used the last one. Hence, you should keep spinning gyms to obtain the next one. So proceed as follows:
- Complete a Mega-Kangaskhan raid
- Go to the next gym
- Spin the disc and collect your pass
- Fight Mega-Kangaskhan again
Moreover, the remote raid limit on this day is increased to 20, instead of 5. This applies from 2:00 AM on Saturday until 5:00 AM on Sunday. This also applies to all other raids – so if you want to use remote raids for something other than Kangaskhan, it’s an option.
Complete the limited research: During the event period, a limited research will run that gives you Stardust. You can practically complete it alongside the raids, and Stardust is always useful.
How do I get Mega-Kangaskhan? Since you can only obtain the normal Kangaskhan from the raid, you will need to evolve it using Mega Energy. You need 200 units of it for Kangaskhan. You can obtain it from the raids – and the quicker you defeat them, the more you will receive in the end.
How do I defeat Mega-Kangaskhan? The good thing about this raid is that you can theoretically defeat Mega-Kangaskhan alone. However, it becomes significantly easier with more trainers. Additionally, you will be faster and collect more Mega Energy. Therefore, we recommend rather three trainers and good counters.
Especially with fighting moves, you can deal damage to Mega-Kangaskhan. Some of the best options include Mega-Lucario and Mega-Scizor, along with other popular favorites like Machamp, Terrakion, and other fighting monsters. We show you the best counters against Mega-Kangaskhan here.
What does the event ticket offer? In the shop, you will also find an optional event ticket that costs 5.49 Euros. You can use all the bonuses mentioned above without a ticket.
The event ticket grants you eight additional raid passes that you can collect after the last usage at gyms, as well as an increased chance of XL candy after raids, 50% more XP after raids, and double Stardust after raids. Important: These bonuses only apply from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM on the event day.
What’s next? The raid day with Mega-Kangaskhan is one of the first events in the new month. However, many more dates are coming up, such as the Crown Clash and a Rocket takeover. To know what’s going on, you can check here: We show you all events in May 2025 in Pokémon GO.
