What kind of event is it? Every month, a special event takes place for trainers in Pokémon GO: the Community Day. A specific Pokémon is always in focus, which spawns more frequently during the event period and is also easier to obtain in its shiny form.
You will therefore have a good chance of encountering one or another Shiny on this day. Additionally, there will be a few bonuses again. In October, everything revolves around the Ghost Pokémon Zwirrlicht.
Community Day in October 2021 – Start time and bonuses
When? Saturday, October 9, 2021, from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM local time
Pokémon of the day: Zwirrlicht spawns more frequently in the wild during the event
Exclusive move: Shadow Ball, if Zwirrlicht evolves into Zwirrfinst by 7:00 PM

For the Community Day with Zwirrlicht, you will again have 6 hours to catch the Ghost Pokémon. By using incense and lures, especially many Zwirrlicht will be attracted. Therefore, playing from home should not be a problem.
Are there additional items in the in-game shop? Yes, you can purchase additional items in the in-game shop during this Community Day:
- 30 free Ultra Balls

How to make the most of the Community Day in October
Make these preparations: As with every event, you should collect enough balls since they are essential for catching Pokémon. To avoid having to restock on balls immediately on Saturday, you should have at least 350 balls in reserve.
Additionally, you should also make space in your Pokémon storage. This way, you can focus entirely on catching without constantly evaluating and sending off your Pokémon.
The event with Zwirrlicht will also grant you a special move. You will receive it for evolving into Zwirrfinst. But beware, this Pokémon can only be evolved with a Sinnoh Stone, so don’t discard that item.
Use these items: Besides having enough space in your bag and a decent supply of balls, you should also pay attention to having a sufficient amount of star pieces for the Community Day with Zwirrlicht. One star piece lasts for 30 minutes and gives you 50% more stardust during that time.
Given the triple stardust bonus that will already be in effect when catching, the additional item on Saturday is particularly worthwhile.
To ensure as many Zwirrlicht spawn as possible and to make the most out of the star piece, you should also consider using incense and lures. You will need 2 of each for the whole day. Since you will need some candies for evolving and leveling Zwirrfinst, it’s a good idea to use Nanab Berries when catching.
Is the Community Day with Zwirrlicht worth it?
How strong will it be? Zwirrlicht is a Ghost-type Pokémon from Generation 3. It is not among the strongest Pokémon and cannot impress with its stats. Therefore, it is also unsuitable for use in the PvP League or in raids.
Its evolutions, Zwirrklop and Zwirrfinst, are not among the best attackers in Pokémon GO. Although the new special move ‘Shadow Ball’ is expected to be the strongest one for Zwirrfinst, you should rely on better candidates in the PvP League and in raids (via pvpoke.com).
Is there a shiny form of Zwirrlicht? Yes, Zwirrlicht has been available in its shiny form in the game for some time. You can recognize it by its reddish-brown body. This color continues with Zwirrklop. Zwirrfinst stands out in its shiny form with a bluish-gray body.
Is the event worth it? Even if Zwirrlicht and its evolutions are not among the best attackers, you should take part in the Community Day. The reason is the triple stardust bonus that you will receive on that day.
Stardust is one of the most important currencies in the game, and you need it for leveling up or trading Pokémon. Therefore, this is a good opportunity to boost your stardust balance.
