What is the Community Day? This event takes place every month in Pokémon GO. For 3 hours, a special Pokémon can be found more frequently. It will also first appear as a Shiny. Additionally, there are various bonuses.
In July, it’s all about the Pokémon Mudkip. The Water starter from Generation 3 also brings XP bonuses.

Keep an eye on these times: The Community Day in July takes place at 4 PM. The time has been moved back by an hour. So the Community Day will also end at 7 PM.
How to make the most of Community Day
Make good use of the bonus: There are triple experience points for catching Pokémon. You should definitely focus on this if you’re still hunting for XP.
This means it’s worth catching every Pokémon and not just leaving them. So throw balls at Lickitung, Magnemite, and Farfetch’d; your XP will grow quickly.
How to catch a lot of Pokémon: During the 3 hours, you should definitely rely on the catch trick. This allows you to skip annoying animations and catch significantly more Pokémon.
Choose a good area: Playing in your own village might not be very good for the Community Day. So feel free to go to the nearest larger town to play. Choose a location with many PokéStops, as more Lures will be activated there.
Shiny Mudkip, Marshtomp and Swampert
Will there be the Shiny? The shiny form of Mudkip will be added to the game for the first time on Sunday. This has happened at every Community Day before, and you can go Shiny hunting again.
What are the chances of getting a Shiny? During Community Day, the Shiny chance of Mudkip is increased. It is about 1 in 25. So you have very good chances of getting a Shiny.
Swampert with Hydro Cannon – Is it worth it?
How strong will Swampert be? The Pokémon will be a real weapon with the exclusive attack! It will then be the best Water attacker in the game after Kyogre and is very useful. So the attack is definitely worth it.
How do I get the attack? You can only obtain this exclusive attack on Sunday between 4 PM and 8 PM. To do this, you need to evolve Marshtomp into Swampert during this time. It does not work with TMs.
100% IV Mudkip – What you need to look for
How to get Mudkip Weather bonus: The Water Pokémon receives a weather bonus in the rain. This allows you to catch it up to level 35 in the wild.
How strong will Mudkip be in the wild: Without the weather bonus, Mudkip can reach a maximum of 967 CP in the wild. If it’s raining, it can even reach 1047 CP. These would then be Mudkip with 100% IV. You can find all other 100% IV values here:
How to easily find 100% IV Mudkip: Thanks to the new rating system in Pokémon GO, you can now easily find Mudkip with good IV in your box.
Simply enter “4*” and you will find all Pokémon with 100% IV. If you have found such a Mudkip, you can see it directly.
If you enter “3*”, you will find all Mudkip with over 82% IV. So you will also be able to see the good monsters at a glance.
Use these items during Community Day
- Lucky Eggs – 6 pieces
- The most important items during this Community Day are likely to be the Lucky Eggs. Use 6 pieces, as you will have them running for the entire 3 hours. This will turn triple XP into six times XP.
- Star Pieces – 6 pieces
- In addition to Lucky Eggs, you should also always have Star Pieces running. The spawns during the event are increased, so you will catch significantly more Pokémon than usual. You can easily make a lot of Stardust.
- Lures – 3 pieces or more
