What is a Community Day? The Community Day is a special event day in Pokémon GO, which takes place once a month. On this day, a specific Pokémon is in the spotlight, which spawns more frequently during this time. The shiny rate is also significantly increased during the event. Therefore, you have a very good chance of catching one or even several of them on this day.
Additionally, trainers can expect numerous bonuses that make the Community Day even more interesting. In July, the Fire-type Pokémon Floink is in the spotlight of the event.
Community Day in July 2021 – Start Time and Bonuses
When? On Saturday, July 3, 2021, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. local time
Pokémon of the Day: Floink will spawn more frequently in the wild during the event
Exclusive Attack: Lohekanonade, when evolved to Flambirex up to 2 hours after the event
Bonuses:
– 3x Stardust for catching
– Incense lasts three hours
– Lure modules last three hours
As in the past, you’ll have a total of 6 hours to catch Floink. With the help of Incense and/or Lure Modules, playing from home is also possible.
This is in the in-game shop: Besides the bonuses, you have the opportunity to purchase additional content for the Community Day in the game’s shop.

How to Make the Most of the Community Day in July
Make these preparations: Floink is a Fire-type starter Pokémon from Generation 5. It can be evolved into Flambirex through Ferkokel. If you evolve it up to 2 hours after the event, it will learn the event-exclusive Charged Attack Lohekanonade. You will need a lot of candies for the evolution. Therefore, you should take advantage of the Community Day to farm as many as possible.
To achieve this, we recommend having a stock of at least 350 balls. This should allow you to catch for a while without needing to spin new balls at the PokéStop.
Since Pokémon also need space, it’s advisable to clean out your PokéBox beforehand. This will save you valuable time during the event that you can use for catching.
These items are suitable for the Community Day: For catching Pokémon, you will receive triple Stardust on this day. You should take advantage of this bonus since Stardust in Pokémon GO is one of the most valuable currencies.
You need this not only for leveling up your Pokémon but also for purifying Pokémon and trading with friends. If you activate a Star Piece during the event, you will receive an additional 50% Stardust for half an hour.
Furthermore, it’s worth setting up an Incense during the Community Day. This will provide plenty of spawns for 3 hours. With 2 pieces, you will thus cover the entire event duration.
If you want to gather a lot of Floink candies during the Community Day, you should also stock up on Nanab Berries.
How worthwhile is the Community Day? Floink is not one of the rarest Pokémon in the game, but it is available as shiny for the first time. With the help of the overview from PvPoke, it can be seen that neither Floink nor its evolutions belong to the best attackers in Pokémon GO (via pvpoke.com).
Their stats in Attack and Stamina are average, while the Defense is rather unimpressive. Therefore, Floink, Ferkokel, and Flambirex are not suitable for use in Raid or PvP League. An exception is the currently ongoing Element Cup, where Floink is one of the best Fire attackers.
If you need a strong Floink for the Element Cup or want to farm candies, the Community Day is a great opportunity. Additionally, due to the increased spawn rates, the chances of catching a 4-star Floink are also good.
Shiny Floink, Ferkokel and Flambirex
For the first time, Floink will be available in its shiny variant during the Community Day. From the past, we know that the shiny rate on these days is usually 1 in 25. Outside of Community Day, it’s only 1 in 450. Therefore, your chances of encountering a shiny Floink at the event are very good.
As seen in the picture, the shiny Floink can be recognized by its yellower coloration. While you can almost only recognize the difference in Ferkokel by the purple decoration of its overalls, Flambirex stands out mainly due to its blue flames in its shiny variant.
