Pokémon GO: How to make the best use of the Community Day in December

This weekend, on December 14th and 15th, the big Community Day for the year-end is taking place in Pokémon GO. We provide an overview of attacks, Shinies, and the times.

This is a Community Day: Every month, Pokémon GO hosts such an event. It usually revolves around one Pokémon, which then appears more frequently and also debuts as Shiny. Accordingly, there are then bonuses.

This time it is different: The Community Day in December is different. Here, it is all about the Pokémon from the past months. So, there’s not just one event Pokémon, but a total of 22. Additionally, there are more bonuses, and the event lasts for 2 days.

Community Day in December – Bonuses and Start Time

You should consider the times: On both days, the Community Day lasts a full 12 hours, from 9 AM to 9 PM. The event Pokémon are frequently found there.

On Saturday and Sunday, there are again the usual Community Days from 11 AM to 2 PM. The spawns will be further increased, and there will also be 3 bonuses to grab.

The spawns on Saturday and Sunday significantly differ. However, there are also some things that are active on both days. We provide you with an overview.

This is what you can expect on both days: On Saturday and Sunday, between 9 AM and 9 PM, all Pokémon that had a Community Day this year will spawn. These include:

• Karnimani
• Quiekel
• Geckarbor
• Flemmli
• Hydropi
• Trasla
• Bummelz
• Knacklion
• Kindwurm
• Chelast
• Panflam

Additionally, on both days, all Community Day Pokémon from the past year will be in Raids. So, if you haven’t caught these yet, it’s a good idea to participate in Raids.

This is what you can expect on Saturday: On Saturday, between 11 AM and 2 PM, the first wave of event Pokémon will reappear more frequently in the wild. These include:

• Karnimani
• Quiekel
• Geckarbor
• Flemmli
• Bummelz
• Kindwurm

In addition, there will be all 3 bonuses that are active between 11 AM and 2 PM. This includes halved egg distance, double Stardust when catching, and double XP when catching.

Moreover, between 9 AM and 9 PM on Saturday, a variety of different Pokémon will hatch from eggs. These include:

• Bisasam
• Glumanda
• Pichu
• Dratini
• Karnimani
• Voltilamm
• Quiekel
• Larvitar
• Geckarbor
• Flemmli
• Bummelz
• Kindwurm

You can also get Community Day Pokémon from last year from eggs. These Pokémon will only be available on Saturday from the eggs. On Sunday, they will change.

This is what you can expect on Sunday: On the second day of the Community Day, you can expect the other half of the event Pokémon to appear more frequently between 11 AM and 2 PM. These include:

• Hydropi
• Trasla
• Knacklion
• Chelast
• Panflam

All 3 bonuses will also be active between 11 AM and 2 PM on Sunday, which were also available on Saturday. After these 3 hours, however, the bonuses will no longer apply.

On Sunday, the other half of all Community Day Pokémon will also hatch from eggs. These include:

• Schiggy
• Evoli
• Endivie
• Feurigel
• Hydropi
• Trasla
• Knacklion
• Tanhel
• Chelast
• Panflam

Here you can also catch monsters from last year again and hope for a Shiny.

Shinys on Community Day – What you need to know

Will there be all Shinys again? Of course, all event Pokémon can also be encountered as Shiny. So, if you missed a Community Day this year, you can still secure the missing Shinys.

How likely are the Shinys? It can be said with a high degree of certainty that the chances of encountering event Shinys will be increased.

Last year, the Shiny rate during the 3 hours, from 11 AM to 2 PM, was as high as on other Community Days. It was 1 in 25. Over the remaining weekend, the rate was also increased but not as high. It was approximately 1 in 50.

This could also be the case this time. So, within the 3 hours, you would catch a particularly high number of Shinys, but you would also have good chances for Shinys over the weekend.

All Community Day Attacks Active – Which are worth it?

What you should know about the attacks: On Saturday and Sunday, during the event period, you can obtain all previous attacks from Community Days again. You can also equip the Pokémon from last year with attacks.

These attacks you should secure: You can equip a total of 22 different Pokémon with event attacks. Particularly worth securing are the following attacks:

• Metagross with Meteor Mash (evolve Tanhel)
• Despotar with Hyper Beam (evolve Larvitar)
• Lohgock with Flamethrower (evolve Flemmli)
• Gewaldro with Leaf Storm (evolve Geckarbor)
• Sumpex with Muddy Water (evolve Hydropi)

How can you learn the attacks? The attacks can only be learned through evolution. You must evolve the desired Pokémon during the event period. TMs do not help here.

Important Tips for Playing on Community Day

You should use this trick: If you are still hunting for Shinys or many Pokémon, you should use the catching trick. This allows you to catch Pokémon much faster, maximizing the use of bonuses.

How to quickly evaluate Pokémon: So you won’t spend too long with a full Pokémon box, quickly sort out the poor ones.

Use the evaluation system to your advantage. Enter “0*,1*,2*” in the search bar to show all Pokémon with weak IVs. You can then confidently transfer these. If you enter “4*”, you can also see Pokémon with 100% IV.

Which Pokémon should you catch? If you want to catch the important Pokémon, you should look for the following monsters:

• Quiekel
• Kindwurm
• Flemmli

Their evolutions are particularly useful in battle. So make sure to stock up on enough candies.

Is it worth playing outside of the 3 hours? The bonuses are only active from 11 AM to 2 PM on Saturday and Sunday. However, there are still event spawns in the game before and after that time.

It’s definitely worth being out and about then, as you still have good chances of Shinys. If you haven’t gotten the desired Shiny within the 3 hours, you can still search afterward.
