In Pokémon GO the Meowth Tag is approaching, bringing many changes. We show you what is happening and how to make the most of the event.
What kind of event is this? Pokémon GO regularly starts an event of this kind. The focus is usually on completing quests. And as a reward for completing the quests, you often receive encounters with Pokémon.
This time, everything revolves around Meowth. In its Kanto form, Alolan form, and Galarian form.
Limited Research in October – Start Time and Bonuses
When? On Saturday, October 10, from 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM local time
Event Pokémon: Meowth coming from Kanto, Alola, and Galar regions
Bonus: You can expect a limited research task, a box with incense, berry snacks, and lucky eggs in the shop
The event lasts for 14 hours again. We already know this from the research event with Snubbull. So you have enough time to invest a few hours during the day and complete the quests.
When are the quests available?
The time-limited quests are only available during the event period. If you want to complete them, you cannot postpone it to the next days.
By completing the tasks, you can expect rewards such as berries, Poké Balls, and encounters with Pokémon. The encounters will likely include a Meowth in its Kanto form, Alolan form, and Galarian form.

- Galarian Meowth is of the “Steel” type

Tip for the quests: Use Power-Ups or evolutions only when you have the corresponding quest. Then you can complete them at the same time and do not have to do it twice. It’s best to check our guide for when which quest appears, and then plan your actions accordingly.
What about Shiny Meowth?
What forms are available? The Shiny Meowth in the Kanto version is already found in Pokémon GO. So it will also play a role during the Meowth Day and will be catchable.
The Alolan form of Meowth has also already been released as Shiny.
Now trainers are wondering if on October 10, the Shiny Galarian form of Meowth will also be unlocked in Pokémon GO. We still don’t know anything about that from Niantic. So we’ll have to wait and see what the first players say about the event.

What are the Shiny chances? In the last events with Picochilla and Snubbull , the Shiny chances were increased. It’s hard to say exactly how high they are. However, if you complete all tasks and actively catch Pokémon during the event, your chances should be quite good.
Are you looking forward to the event and have a specific goal? This is a great opportunity for Shiny hunters to catch Shiny Meowth from the Kanto or Alola region, if you don’t already have these in your collection.
