What kind of Pokémon is Schligda? Schligda is a Water-type Pokémon from the 9th generation of games. It is also referred to as the Sea Eel Pokémon due to its appearance and can evolve into Schligdri with the help of 50 candies.
With the major update to the biomes, Schligda and its evolution were introduced in Pokémon GO. We will explain where you should best look for this water Pokémon, what it looks like, and if it is even worth it.

Finding Schligda – Everything about the Biome, Appearance & a Location Trick
In which biome can you find Schligda? Unlike other wild Pokémon in the game, Schligda can only be found in the Beach biome. However, as trainers have noted on social media, some shores of larger rivers and lakes are also recognized as a type of beach or natural coast. So, with a bit of luck, you may encounter Schligda there as well.
In the game, you can recognize the corresponding biomes by their background. You should look for a beach landscape or a shore with water. However, trainers have found another trick to figure out where there are beaches and natural shores near you.
Trainer shows trick to find the right biome
What is this trick? The developers of Pokémon GO use data from OpenStreetMap for their map. As a trainer has now found out and shared in his Reddit post, there is a trick to finding the corresponding biome.
He explains that to search for Schligda, you can use the homepage of Overpass Turbo, which also utilizes data from OpenStreetMap. On this page, you have the option to search the map for specific areas.
All you need to do is to choose your desired location and then enter the following code into the field on the left side.
Note that you should use the straight apostrophe when entering the quotation marks (on a PC above the 2 key in the letter block). Alternatively, you can also use the apostrophe above the # symbol.
Now you can confirm your input by clicking the green button Execute
. Afterwards, the map will show you colored circles indicating where there are beaches or natural shore sections near you. These locations give you a guideline on where to look for Schligda. You can see how it looks in the example of Erfurt in the following image:
How can you recognize Schligda? You can recognize Schligda by its bright, worm-like body that peeks out from a sand hole. Its red nose is particularly striking. Overall, the Pokémon visually resembles Digda, but is still a distinct monster.
There are also similarities with its evolution Schligdri. This one has three red, eel-like bodies protruding from a rock. Here too, there are parallels to Digdri, the evolution of Digda.
Is it worth catching Schligda?
Is there a shiny version of Schligda? No, there is currently no shiny version of the water Pokémon in the game. If it ever comes, you will recognize the shiny by its yellow body and purple nose.
How strong is Schligda? Schligda and Schligdri are both not particularly strong. While Schligdri has a solid attack value, it does not hold up well in battles and also cannot impress in defense. For raids and the GO Battle League, there are a whole range of better candidates that you should consider in battle.
For whom is Schligda worth it? The water Pokémon is mainly worth it for trainers who want to fill their PokéDex. If you’re looking for a monster for raids or the GO Battle League, Schligda is not the right choice and you should rather rely on one of the best attackers in Pokémon GO. And shiny hunters also will not get their money’s worth with the Sea Eel Pokémon.
