In Pokémon GO the event “Hard Times” is running with a strong XP bonus. A great opportunity to level up quickly.
What’s happening in Pokémon GO? Currently, the event “Hard Times” is taking place, which revolves around Kanto Pokémon, but also brings some rewards in limited-time researches for the topic “high levels”.
These are:
- “Reach Level 10”: For this, you get 1,000 Stardust and 10 Himmih-, 10 Sanana- and 10 Nanab berries
- “Reach Level 20”: Here you get 2,000 Stardust and a Potion
- “Reach Level 30”: 3,000 Stardust and a Premium Battle Pass as a reward
- “Reach Level 40”: 4,000 Stardust, 5 Premium Battle Passes, and 50 Ultra Balls
Those who have already reached these levels can easily collect the rewards. And those who are just about to reach these levels should use the upcoming days, as there is a strong bonus on catch XP.
How to get a lot of XP when catching to level up quickly
What kind of bonus is that? You get triple XP when catching. This bonus lasts until the end of “Hard Times” on Friday, December 15th at 8:00 PM.
How to make the most of it: If you’re looking for a lot of XP, you should make the most of your Pokémon GO walks during this event: Catch as many Pokémon as possible and make sure to ideally achieve “great” throws.
Great throws usually already bring a bonus of 1,000 XP per throw, so 3,000 during the event. If you then activate a Lucky Egg, you can achieve 6,000 XP alone from the “great” bonus plus the other catch bonuses. This way, you can quickly get around 7,000 XP per catch if you succeed.
So proceed as follows when you are on an XP hunt:
- Optionally activate a “Smoke” to get more Pokémon spawns. The daily adventure smoke also works when you are on the go.
- Activate a Lucky Egg if you have one to receive double XP
- Now catch as many Pokémon as possible “great” to get the XP
- Tip 1: Using the “catch trick”, you can catch Pokémon faster, but you run the risk of making the great throw harder
- Tip 2: There is an AR trick for more great throws, but that takes time
Make sure you have enough space in your box and enough balls with you when you head out.
About great throws: It is worth prioritizing Pokémon with a large catch circle that are easy to catch great. Currently, Ponita is a good option for this.
But generally, you should try it now with every Pokémon, as the reward is so great that you can compensate for several “missed” throws with just one great throw. Additionally, with practice, you’ll hit great throws more often.
If the Pokémon move too much for you, you should resort to Nanab berries – then they will stand still.
Friendships generally bring a lot of XP
This is what you should report regarding friendships: Currently, there is no special bonus for friendships, but they are generally one of the best ways to accumulate XP together. If you add friends and continually interact with them, it gives you a substantial XP increase.
For the following friend levels, you receive this XP:
- New Friend: 1,000 XP
- Good Friends: 3,000 XP
- Super Friends: 10,000 XP
- Hyper Friends: 50,000 XP
- Best Friends: 100,000 XP
If you currently have friends with whom you are about to reach the next friendship level, you should see if you can time it together with the use of a Lucky Egg to also receive double XP here.
