In Pokémon GO, Thundurus has joined the raids. You can easily defeat the legendary Pokémon in a duo. We’ll show you how to do it.
When do you have a chance at Thundurus? The legendary Pokémon has been available in Level 5 raids since March 2. How long it will remain available is still unclear. It will likely disappear at the beginning of April.
You don’t need many players for the legendary boss. Just two trainers with the right counters at Level 30 are enough.
This is how you defeat Thundurus in a duo
These types are good: Thundurus is an Electric and Flying type. It is therefore vulnerable to Rock and Ice types. So use such Pokémon.
These aids are important: Through friendship levels and the weather bonus, you get a small bonus in battle. This is worthwhile and allows you to fight effectively even at a low level.
We considered every factor in our calculations. However, there are also some Pokémon you can succeed with without the weather bonus.
Defeating Thundurus at Level 30 – Here’s how
Meet these requirements: At this level, a high friendship level is essential. There are Pokémon that can do it without the weather bonus, but with the right weather, you have a lot of options.
Use these Pokémon: A total of 7 Pokémon can successfully battle in a duo:
- Rameidon with Rock Throw and Rock Slide
- Rihornior with Rock Throw and Rock Wrecker
- Terrakium with Rock Throw and Rock Slide (only in partly cloudy weather)
- Despotar with Rock Throw and Stone Edge (only in partly cloudy weather)
- Mamutel with Powder Snow and Avalanche (only in snowy weather)
- Glaziola with Ice Beam and Avalanche (only in snowy weather)
- Snibunna with Ice Shard and Avalanche (only in snowy weather)
Defeating Thundurus at Level 35 – Here’s how
Meet these requirements: At Level 35, having the highest friendship level is not as critical. There are more Pokémon that can succeed without the weather bonus, and with the right weather, you can already form a pretty broad team.
Use these Pokémon: At Level 35, 5 more Pokémon can successfully join in the duo with or without weather bonus:
- Terrakium with Rock Throw and Rock Slide
- Mamutel with Powder Snow and Avalanche
- Brockoloss with Rock Throw and Rock Slide (only in partly cloudy weather)
- Mewtwo with Psycho Cut and Ice Beam (only in snowy weather)
- Rossana with Ice Beam and Avalanche (only in snowy weather)
Defeating Thundurus at Level 40 – Here’s how
Meet these requirements: At Level 40, you can approach the battle quite easily. With the top counters, you won’t face any issues anymore and there are several more Pokémon to choose from.
Use these Pokémon: 3 Pokémon at Level 40 can achieve victory in the duo against Thundurus:
- Despotar with Rock Throw and Stone Edge
- (Alolan) Gyarados with Stone Edge and Stone Edge (only in partly cloudy weather)
- Amoroso with Stone Edge and Rock Slide (only in partly cloudy weather)
How difficult is the battle? Even at Level 30, if you have the right Pokémon, you won’t have major issues with Thundurus. With good counters at Level 40, Thundurus should be defeated quickly.
