In Pokémon GO you can find Zapdos in the legendary raids. We show you how you can defeat the Pokémon as a duo – you just need to be at level 25.
How long will Zapdos remain in the raids? Zapdos will remain in the raids until October 9. At 10:00 PM German time, it will make way for Giratina – one of two legendary monsters that will still appear in October.
However, until October 9, you can still easily defeat Zapdos in a duo. We will show you which Pokémon you need for that.
Defeating Zapdos Easily as a Duo
Use these counters: Zapdos is a Fire and Flying type. Therefore, it is vulnerable to attacks from the Rock, Water, and Electric types. It has a double weakness to Rock, so you should especially focus on this type.
These aids should be used: Friendship level is particularly important in duos. It can significantly enhance your attacks. The higher the friendship level between you, the easier the duo will work.
It is similar with the weather bonus. This bonus also increases your attack. For example, if it is partly cloudy, your Rock Pokémon become even stronger.
For our calculations, we only considered the friendship level. The duo also works without the right weather.
Defeating Zapdos at Level 25 – Here’s How
Meet these requirements: Already at level 25, the duo is quite easy. With the highest friendship level, you should have no problems. But even with a lower level, such as with Superfriends, the duo should be doable.
Use these Pokémon: You have a total of 6 Pokémon available that can complete the duo at level 25:
- Rhyperior with Rock Wrecker and Stone Edge
- Terrakion with Rock Wrecker and Rock Slide
- Rampardos with Rock Wrecker and Rock Slide
- Tyranitar with Rock Wrecker and Stone Edge
- Gigalith with Rock Wrecker and Rock Slide
- Aerodactyl with Rock Throw and Rock Slide
Mega Blastoise would also be sufficient at level 25 for a duo. However, we did not include it in the list here as it is significantly harder than the other monsters and is only temporarily available.
Defeating Zapdos at Level 30 – Here’s How
Meet these requirements: With the counters mentioned above, the duo becomes quite easy. The friendship level is no longer as important unless you want to experiment a bit with the Pokémon.
Use these Pokémon: 4 additional monsters can be used at level 30:
- Amoroso with Rock Throw and Rock Slide
- Demeteros with Rock Throw and Rock Slide
- Golem with Rock Throw and Stone Edge
- Alolan Golem with Rock Throw and Stone Edge
Defeating Zapdos at Level 35 – Here’s How
Meet these requirements: With Pokémon at level 35 and the best friendship level, you should have no problems in a duo. But it also works without a friendship level – provided you use the best counters we mentioned above.
Use these Pokémon: As best friends and with Pokémon at level 35, the duo works with 4 additional Pokémon:
- Aerodactyl with Wing Attack and Ancient Power
- Lunatone with Rock Throw and Rock Slide
- Sunkern with Rock Throw and Rock Slide
- Steelix with Rock Wrecker and Stone Edge
Defeating Zapdos at Level 40 – Here’s How
Meet these requirements: Compared to level 35, not much changes at level 40. The duo is not much easier, but still relatively simple.
Use these Pokémon: 3 more Pokémon complete the duo at level 40, provided they have the right moves:
- Zekrom with Charge Beam and Thunder Shock
- Castform with Rock Wrecker and Rock Slide
- Carvanha with Rock Throw and Ancient Power
Can Zapdos be defeated alone? Zapdos cannot be defeated alone. You always need a partner to defeat Zapdos.
How difficult is the battle? The duo against Zapdos is quite easy to achieve. So you don’t have to dismiss the challenge just because you are not yet at level 40.
Is the battle against Zapdos worth it? Definitely! Zapdos is one of the best Fire attackers in the game and should not be missing from your team. Additionally, Zapdos can be Shiny. If you don’t have a Shiny yet, you should secure it.
