In Pokémon GO you can now challenge the mysterious Pokémon Genesect in raids. The battle is quite easy. We will show you how to defeat the Pokémon in pairs.
How long will Genesect remain in the raids? Genesect will only be available during the Unova event. This ends next Friday, August 21.
You should take on many Genesect raids, as it can be caught as Shiny for the first time. You don’t need many players for the raids – you can easily defeat Genesect in pairs.
How to defeat Genesect in pairs
Use these counters: Genesect is a Bug and Steel type, so only Fire type is effective. Fire is double effective against Genesect, so you should go entirely with Fire Pokémon.
Use these aids: The weather is always a good aid in Pokémon GO. When it is sunny, Fire Pokémon are boosted. Under these circumstances, you can fight against Genesect even more easily.
Furthermore, the friendship level is an important aid. The higher your level with your partner is, the more boost you get in battle.
For our calculations, we have considered the friendship level, but not the weather.
Defeating Genesect at Level 25 – Here’s how
Meet these requirements: Even at this low level, the fight against Genesect is quite easy. If you are best friends, then it’s no problem, but if your friendship level is lower, you should manage it as well.
Use these Pokémon: Here you can use the 7 best Fire Pokémon to win against Genesect:
- Reshiram with Fire Fang and Overheat
- Skelabra with Fire Whirl and Overheat
- Heatran with Fire Whirl and Flamethrower
- Entei with Fire Fang and Overheat
- Lavados with Fire Whirl and Overheat
- Victini with Quick Attack and V-Generator
- Arkani with Fire Fang and Flamethrower
Defeating Genesect at Level 30 – Here’s how
Meet these requirements: The fight at level 30 is a bit easier and you can take even more Pokémon with you. The friendship level actually doesn’t matter anymore if you use the aforementioned Pokémon.
Use these Pokémon: 8 more monsters can be added, provided you are best friends and have the right moves:
- Glurak with Fire Whirl and Fire Blast
- Flampivian with Fire Fang and Overheat
- Lohgock with Fire Whirl and Fire Blast
- Flamara with Fire Whirl and Overheat
- Tornupto with Ember and Fire Blast
- Panferno with Fire Whirl and Fire Blast
- Magbrant with Fire Whirl and Fire Punch
- Brutalanda with Fire Fang and Fire Storm
Defeating Genesect at Level 35 – Here’s how
Meet these requirements: If you choose the top counters, you’ll have no problems at all in pairs. You can even pull it off with a completely unfamiliar partner.
Use these Pokémon: 3 more Pokémon can be added to your team, provided they have the right moves:
- Hundemon with Fire Fang and Flamethrower
- Ho-Oh with Hidden Power (Fire) and Fire Storm
- Furnifraß with Fire Whirl and Flamethrower
Defeating Genesect at Level 40 – Here’s how
Meet these requirements: If both trainers are at level 40, then you will have no problems in pairs. Use the right counters and you can easily defeat Genesect together.
Use these Pokémon: If you have the monsters at level 40 and they have the right moves, then you can use 4 more, mostly inconspicuous Pokémon for the duo:
- Grillchita with Fire Whirl and Flamethrower
- Gallopa with Fire Whirl and Fire Storm
- Mewtwo with Psycho Cut and Flamethrower
- Flambirex with Ember and Heat Wave
How hard is the battle in general? Genesect is definitely one of the easier raid bosses. You can also defeat Genesect alone, but for that, you need Crypto Pokémon that we have not considered here.
Are Genesect raids worth it? The mysterious Pokémon is only available in the raids for a week, so it’s worth investing some raid passes. In terms of usefulness, Genesect is not very valuable, it’s a solid Bug attacker, but there are better alternatives.
Especially the Shiny is interesting here. It will be available as Shiny for the first time, and it is still unclear if and when Shiny Genesect will return. The probability of a Shiny has already been analyzed.
