The legendary Pokémon Thundurus currently reigns in Level 5 raids of Pokémon GO. You can defeat the monster quite well even with just two players. We show you how it’s done.
This is how long Thundurus is available: The legendary Pokémon has been available for almost a month now. It will disappear on February 25 at 10 PM. Until then, you can even defeat it together.
If you are at a lower level, then you still have to play with the weather bonus. The better your Pokémon are, the easier it will be to defeat it together.
Defeating Thundurus in Duo – Here’s how
These are good counters: Thundurus is vulnerable to Electric, Ice, and Rock types. Pokémon of any type can defeat Thundurus in a duo at the right level.
You can find the best counters against Thundurus here.
This is how you defeat Thundurus easier: Weather bonuses and a high friendship level make the battle easier for you. If you are at level 30, both are also mandatory; otherwise, you cannot defeat Thundurus.
At level 40, you must at least battle with a best friend, otherwise the fight will also be tight.
Defeating Thundurus at Level 30 – Here’s how
Meet these requirements: The right weather is essential here. You also need best friends in battle; otherwise, it will be tough. If you meet both requirements, you have a good chance of victory.
Use these Pokémon: Especially Electric and Rock Pokémon are useful here. A total of 10 Pokémon are available with weather boosts:
- Abomasnow with Powder Snow and Avalanche (only in snow)
- Glaceon with Ice Shard and Avalanche (only in snow)
- Terrakion with Smack Down and Rock Slide (only in partly cloudy)
- Tyranitar with Smack Down and Stone Edge (only in partly cloudy)
- Rhyperior with Smack Down and Rock Slide (only in partly cloudy)
- Rhydon with Smack Down and Stone Edge (only in partly cloudy)
- Raikou with Thunder Shock and Wild Charge (only in rain)
- Zapdos with Thunder Shock and Thunderbolt (only in rain)
- Magnezone with Spark and Wild Charge (only in rain)
- Electivire with Thunder Shock and Wild Charge (only in rain)
Defeating Thundurus at Level 35 – Here’s how
Meet these requirements: At level 35, it is already a bit easier. The friendship level is no longer as crucial if you continue to rely on the weather bonus.
Use these Pokémon: Here the first Pokémon can succeed without weather boost, and additional Pokémon come into play with the right weather:
- Raikou with Thunder Shock and Wild Charge
- Froslass with Frost Breath and Avalanche (only in snow)
- Mewtwo with Psycho Cut and Ice Beam (only in snow)
- Groudon with Smack Down and Rock Slide (only in partly cloudy)
- Aerodactyl with Rock Throw and Rock Slide (only in partly cloudy)
- Luxray with Spark and Wild Charge (only in rain)
- Alolan Golem with Volt Switch and Wild Charge (only in rain)
- Mewtwo with Psycho Cut and Thunderbolt (only in rain)
Defeating Thundurus at Level 40 – Here’s how
Meet these requirements: Here the weather is actually not as crucial anymore. If you continue to rely on the weather bonus, you can forgo having best friends.
Use these Pokémon: 5 more Pokémon without weather bonus can defeat Thundurus here. Some more monsters come into play if you use the right weather:
- Rhyperior with Smack Down and Rock Slide
- Zapdos with Thunder Shock and Thunderbolt
- Magnezone with Spark and Wild Charge
- Electivire with Thunder Shock and Wild Charge
- Terrakion with Smack Down and Rock Slide
- Jolteon with Thunder Shock and Thunderbolt (only in rain)
- Arcanine with Thunder Fang and Wild Charge (only in rain)
- Magneton with Spark and Charge Beam (only in rain)
How hard will the battle be? If you have counters at level 40, then the battle shouldn’t be a major challenge in duo. Pokémon at lower levels actually have it a bit tougher. Without the weather bonus, you won’t succeed.
