Pokémon GO has just Arctos in the legendary raids. You can already defeat the monster with just two players and only need to be at level 30. We will show you the best counters.
How long will Arctos stay? You won’t be able to battle the legendary Pokémon for much longer. Arctos will disappear on September 25th. However, you can still challenge it during a raid hour. This can also be done via remote raid.
If you don’t have many players, you can already defeat Arctos with just two players – as long as you have the right counters with you.
How to defeat Arctos with two players
Use these counters: Arctos has several weaknesses. The types Rock, Electric, Fire, and Steel are effective. However, Arctos has a double weakness only against the Rock type.
If you want to succeed with two players, you should only fight with Rock Pokémon, as they are significantly stronger against Arctos. You cannot defeat Arctos in a duo with the other types.
Use these aids: On one hand, you should always benefit from the friendship bonus. The higher your level is with your friends, the more bonus damage you can deal.
On the other hand, you also benefit from weather bonuses. Especially when it is partly cloudy, one of the most common weather conditions in Pokémon GO, you can deal a lot of damage with Rock Pokémon.
For our calculations, we included both bonuses. A certain friendship level is always required. We have always noted the weather bonus behind the Pokémon when it is necessary.
Defeating Arctos at level 30 – Here’s how
Meet these requirements: At level 30, the duo fight is quite tricky. Only a few monsters can manage without weather enhancement. However, if it is partly cloudy, the fight should go well – provided you are best friends with each other.
Use these Pokémon: Without weather enhancement, only 3 monsters can be used for the duo at level 30. With the right weather, a few more Pokémon can be added:
- Rameidon with Catapult and Rock Slide
- Rihornior with Catapult and Rock Throw
- Terrakium with Catapult and Rock Slide
- Despotar with Catapult and Rock Slide (only when partly cloudy)
- Brockoloss with Catapult and Rock Slide (only when partly cloudy)
- Amoroso with Stone Throw and Rock Slide (only when partly cloudy)
- Alola-Geowaz with Stone Throw and Rock Slide (only when partly cloudy)
Defeating Arctos at level 35 – Here’s how
Meet these requirements: Compared to level 30, not much changes here. Without weather bonus, it is quite manageable at level 35 if you use the best counters. With weather enhancement and a high friendship level, the duo should have no problem.
Use these Pokémon: Only one Pokémon is added without weather bonus. Additionally, several Rock Pokémon from the second row can be used if they benefit from weather enhancement:
- Despotar with Catapult and Rock Slide
- Stolloss with Catapult and Rock Slide (only when partly cloudy)
- Aerodactyl with Stone Throw and Rock Slide (only when partly cloudy)
- Geowaz with Stone Throw and Rock Slide (only when partly cloudy)
Defeating Arctos at level 40 – Here’s how
Meet these requirements: At the maximum level, the duo is fairly easy. With the top counters, the weather and friendship level are not that important anymore. However, if you want more options, you should not neglect these things.
Use these Pokémon: Without weather enhancement, another Pokémon can be considered for the duo. With the right weather, you can even use Pokémon that are not Rock types but use Rock moves:
- Brockoloss with Catapult and Rock Slide
- Flampivian with Fire Fang and Rock Slide (only when partly cloudy)
- Stalobor with Metal Claw and Rock Slide (only when partly cloudy)
- Demeteros with Stone Throw and Rock Slide (only when partly cloudy)
- Lunatone with Stone Throw and Rock Slide (only when partly cloudy)
- Sunflower with Stone Throw and Rock Slide (only when partly cloudy)
- Castellith with Catapult and Rock Slide (only when partly cloudy)
How hard is the battle? A duo is not that difficult. You could even manage it at level 25, but you need the right weather for that. Anyone at level 40 should have no problem with the duo – provided they take the Pokémon we suggested.
Alternatively, you can also use Crypto or Mega Pokémon that are effective. Mega Charizard is a good choice here, for example. We intentionally did not mention it here, as Mega Evolution only lasts 4 hours and is therefore quite different from the other monsters.
Arctos is not the only legendary Pokémon that awaits you in September. Overall, there were 4 legendaries to battle this month.
