Today, a new event starts in Pokémon GO. Among other things, there is a Pokémon debut and an increased Shiny chance waiting for you.
What kind of event is this? The new event is called “Astonishing Variants”. It starts on Thursday, April 3, 2025, at 10:00 AM and ends on Monday, April 7, 2025, at 8:00 PM.
How do you get Tauros from Paldea? Paldea-Tauros comes into the game in 3 different variants, which can be found in different areas: the Battle variant (Iberian Peninsula), the Flame variant (Eastern Hemisphere), and the Flood variant (Western Hemisphere).
Since Germany is in the eastern hemisphere, you will encounter the Flame variant of Paldea-Tauros here. To obtain it, you need to challenge it in 3-star raids.
Astonishing Variants – All Contents of the Event
Which Pokémon are available in the event? The following Pokémon await you during the event:
In the wild:
- Formeo*
- Formeo (Sun form)*
- Formeo (Rain form)*
- Formeo (Snow form)*
- Burmy (Plant Cloak)*
- Burmy (Sand Cloak)*
- Burmy (Trash Cloak)*
Formeo appears more frequently in the form that corresponds to the current weather.
In 1-star raids:
- Schalellos (Western Sea)* (Western Hemisphere)
- Schalellos (Eastern Sea)* (Eastern Hemisphere)
- Psiau*
- Wuffels* (with luck, you can evolve it into Wolwerock in its Dusk Form)
In 3-star raids:
- Paldea-Tauros (Battle variant) (Iberian Peninsula)
- Paldea-Tauros (Flame variant) (Eastern Hemisphere)
- Paldea-Tauros (Flood variant) (Western Hemisphere)
- Silvarro*
- Hisui-Silvarro*
Monsters marked with a * can also be found in their Shiny variants.
What bonuses are there in the event? The following bonuses are active in the event:
- increased chance of encountering Shiny Schalellos
- double the amount of experience points when catching Pokémon
Special Research: With the start of the event, you will receive a new Special Research. Among other things, the mysterious Pokémon Marshadow awaits you. If you already obtained Marshadow at GO Fest 2024, you will receive candies for the monster instead.
Moreover, with the start of the event, the next steps in the Special Research “Powerful and Masterful” will be unlocked.
More contents of the event: As usual, there will be PokéStop showcases and field research focusing on the event Pokémon.
A free and a paid research will also await you. In the free research, you will receive, among other things, 10 Dakuma candies and encounters with event Pokémon. Once you have completed the research, you will also receive an additional catch candy and an increased chance for catch XL candies until the end of the event if you are at least level 31.
You can purchase the paid research for $2 (about €2). Here you will receive, among other things, 4 premium battle passes, 1 lucky egg, 1 star piece, and further encounters with event Pokémon.
