In Pokémon GO there are two new monsters to catch: Mollimorba and Monozyto. But how strong will they and their evolutions be?
This is how to get the two Pokémon: The Psychic Spectacle has started in Pokémon GO and brings the two new Pokémon from Gen 5 into the game. Currently, you can encounter them more often.
After the event, Mollimorba and Monozyto will still be available and will also hatch from 5-km eggs.
So that you know what you are catching, we will now show you the usefulness of the two monsters.
How strong will Mollimorba, Hypnomorba, and Morbitesse be?
These are the 3 Psychic Pokémon: While you currently encounter Mollimorba more often in the wild, you can evolve Hypnomorba with 25 candies. For another 100 candies, you then get Morbitesse.

These are the stats: We are looking at the stats of Morbitesse here. The other two Pokémon are normal pre-evolutions that are not really strong:
- Attack value: 176
- Defense value: 205
- HP value: 172
- Maximum CP: 2419
Will Morbitesse be good? For raids and gym battles, Morbitesse is not really recommended. As a Psychic attacker, there are definitely better alternatives with Mewtwo or Espeon.
In PvP, Morbitesse also does not excel. The moves are decent and somewhat varied, as it learns moves like Charm (fairy) and Rock Slide (rock), but the stats are the decisive point. With its low HP value, it is easily defeated.
How strong will Monozyto, Mitodos, and Zytomega be?
These are the 3 Psychic Pokémon: You can currently encounter Monozyto, just like Mollimorba, more often in the wild. Evolving to Mitodos costs 25 candies and evolving to Zytomega then costs another 100 candies.
These are the stats: Just like with the Mollimorba family, we will only look at the stats of the final evolution Zytomega:
- Attack value: 214
- Defense value: 148
- HP value: 242
- Maximum CP: 2927
Will Zytomega be good? Better than Mollimorba, Zytomega is for sure. In raids and gym battles, it also clearly loses to the top attackers. So it is also not useful here.
In PvP, similar to Morbitesse, it has some interesting moves, such as Shadow Ball (ghost) or Hidden Power (can be of any type), but the base stats are not impressive. The low defense value speaks against Zytomega.
Do you need the new Pokémon? For the PokéDex, you definitely need all 6 new monsters. Otherwise, you can leave Mollimorba and Monozyto. They are by no means among the best attackers in the game.
However, during the Psychic event, which has numerous additional bonuses, make sure to collect enough candies for the evolutions because you never know how rare the monsters will be afterward.
