In Pokémon GO, the GO Fest 2022 is just around the corner. This year you can encounter the mysterious Pokémon Shaymin. We at MeinMMO have looked into what kind of monster it is and show you how strong it will be.
What event is it about? As in previous years, a huge GO Fest will take place in 2022 again, where you can participate from all over the world. Naturally, you can expect numerous bonuses and spawns.
Ticket holders can also look forward to an encounter with a special, mysterious Pokémon. At the Pokémon GO Fest 2022, you will have the opportunity to encounter the hedgehog Pokémon Shaymin for the first time.
When does the GO Fest 2022 take place? The GO Fest will run on Saturday, June 4, 2022, and Sunday, June 5, 2022, each day from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM local time.
The new Pokémon Shaymin
What kind of Pokémon is Shaymin? Shaymin is a mysterious Pokémon from the 4th generation of games, which is also referred to as the Gratitude Pokémon. Since the GO Fest 2022 revolves around friendship and gratitude, it fits perfectly with the event.
Shaymin belongs, like some other Pokémon, to the transformers and thus has a Land Form, which is of the Grass type, and a Sky Form, which is of the Grass and Flying type. However, the Pokémon does not have a pre-evolution or evolution.
The Sky Form of Shaymin can be caught as part of a special research for the GO Fest in Berlin.
How strong is Shaymin
Land Form: Shaymin (Land Form) can score particularly well in its stamina. But it also has solid values in attack and defense. Its stats are as follows:
- Attack: 210
- Defense: 210
- Stamina: 225
This makes it slightly stronger in terms of attack than Tangela, which only reaches a value of 207. However, the little hedgehog will not be able to use any Grass-type Fast Attack in its moveset.
Thus, currently, it only has access to the moves Hidden Power (Normal) and Zen Headbutt (Psychic), both of which deal decent damage. For use in raids, Shaymin (Land Form) is still a suitable alternative.
Sky Form: Even stronger than the Land Form of Shaymin is its Sky Form. This can excel with high stats in Attack and Stamina:
- Attack: 261
- Defense: 166
- Stamina: 225
It is thus even slightly stronger than Zarude and Roserade, which are among the best attackers in Pokémon GO. Just like its Land Form, the Sky Form is also unlikely to have access to any Grass-type Fast Attacks. In raids, however, the Sky Form is also a good option.
Appearance, Shinies, and Locations of Shaymin
This is what Shaymin looks like: The mysterious Pokémon will probably encounter you in its Land Form during the GO Fest. You can recognize it by its hedgehog-like, white body and its spiky coat made of leaves. Its body is adorned on the sides with a large pink flower.
The Sky Form, on the other hand, is larger and resembles a deer with its delicate body. You can also recognize it by its white body and the green tuft of hair on its head. A red leaf adorns the Pokémon on its side/back.
Can you catch Shiny Shaymin? The shiny variant of the mysterious Pokémon will probably unfortunately not be catchable in Pokémon GO during the GO Fest 2022.
How can you obtain Shaymin? According to Niantic, there will be a special research task for ticket holders at this year’s GO Fest again (via pokemongolive.com). This revolves around the Gratitude Pokémon and will reward you, as you know from previous GO Fests, with an encounter with Shaymin (Land Form).
Those with a ticket for the GO Fest in Berlin can look forward to an additional Shaymin. This time it will be the Sky Form of the Gratitude Pokémon. Thus, currently, only ticket holders have the chance to encounter one.
Whether it, as in the past with other mysterious Pokémon, will also be available in the game for all other trainers in a few months remains to be seen.
