In Pokémon GO you can challenge Origin Palkia and Origin Dialga during the Sinnoh Tour. Is it worth catching the two?
What kind of Pokémon are these? The “Origin Forms” of Dialga and Palkia represent their original forms, first encountered in “Pokémon Legends: Arceus.” Now they are also appearing in Pokémon GO.
How can you get them? If you want them, you need to challenge them in raids during the Sinnoh Tour this weekend. It’s important which version you chose in the “Path to Sinnoh” research.
- In Pearl, the Origin Palkia you challenge in raids will definitely have the special move Spatial Rend
- In Diamond, the Origin Dialga you challenge in raids will have the special move Roar of Time.
- For the respective other move, you will need luck to obtain it from raids.

How strong are Origin Dialga and Origin Palkia?
As raid attackers: Both monsters are very strong and are among the best dragon attackers you can have. Origin Palkia is simply a powerful attacker thanks to its move “Spatial Rend,” and Origin Dialga with “Roar of Time” even fills a special niche, as it is a dragon Pokémon with an additional steel type, making it not susceptible to dragon attacks.
Both surpass some established monsters in the meta, including shadow Pokémon – this is emphasized by PvE expert Teban54 in an assessment (via reddit). Only Mega Rayquaza and Mega Garchomp are significantly stronger.
As PvP monsters: Here too, both Pokémon are extremely strong, primarily due to high CP values in the Master League. In the current PvP rankings from PvPoke, it looks like this:
- Origin Palkia is ranked 1 in the current Master League rankings, winning against monsters like Kyogre, Giratina, or Dragapult. Its biggest weakness is fairy Pokémon or Dialga.
- Meanwhile, Dialga in its Origin form ranks at 20, which is still very strong. However, it is primarily threatened by ground Pokémon that can deal significant damage to it.
Outside of battles: Both monsters have a special adventure effect that you can trigger with their moves outside of battles.
- Dialga’s Roar of Time gives you the ability outside of battles to extend the item duration of items like incense, daily adventure incense, or star pieces. For 5 Dialga candies and 5,000 stardust, you get 6 additional minutes and can stack it repeatedly.
- With Palkia’s Spatial Rend, the encounter radius is increased. For 5 Palkia candies and 5,000 stardust, the effect lasts for 10 minutes and can also be stacked.
In short: Both monsters are a good choice if you need powerful fighters, with Palkia likely being the slightly stronger variant, but Dialga can impress with its effectiveness.
