Mega Beedrill is a powerful weapon in the fight against Cresselia. Two trainers from Pokémon GO demonstrate how they win the battle using the highly bred bee.
What is it about? For a few days now, Cresselia has been reigning as a legendary raid boss in Pokémon GO over the level 5 raids. These are some of the most difficult raids in Pokémon GO. They present a significant challenge to trainers. The Pokémon is of the Psychic type and thus has weaknesses against Ghost, Dark, and Bug – those are the best counters against Cresselia in Pokémon GO.
On one hand, players are just happy if they can gather enough people for raids at all. On the other hand, players try to optimize their raids so that they can share special achievements.
A trainer duo has now achieved a special feat. They defeated Cresselia with just two players while using only a handful of Pokémon. The focus is on Mega Beedrill, which dealt a significant portion of the damage. It’s also noteworthy that the duo didn’t win “barely”. In their easy victory, there were still 55 unused seconds on the clock.

Why does this work so well?
This must be considered: The player MJK151, who uploaded the video and shared it with the trainers, gives some info about the battle.
- They specifically looked for a Cresselia that knows Psycho Cut as its fast move and not Confusion
- The two trainers used more Pokémon than just Mega Beedrill to avoid both needing to switch Pokémon in the lobby at the same time – otherwise, Cresselia would regenerate health points
- In addition, the power boost from Mega Beedrill plays a big role, which is active during the current event – a glitch causes the CP of Pokémon to increase drastically
The two trainers were even able to further optimize their tactic. On reddit MJK151 announces that in a later attempt they even had 72 seconds left. This shows how powerful Mega Beedrill can become during the second Mega event.
In the current limited special research you will receive plenty of Mega Energy for Beedrill. So if you want to conduct such an evolution and use Mega Beedrill against Cresselia as shown in the video, you will get the required energies there.
Additionally, four field researches in Pokémon GO provide the coveted Mega energies.
Are you also trying out such special tactics and attempting to defeat raid bosses with as few players and Pokémon as possible, or do you just complete the raids in a “normal” way?
