In our 3rd Pokémon GO Advent special, it’s all about Charmander and the heartwarming story of its flame. This story has taught millions of young trainers to respect a Pokémon.
This is the story behind Charmander: This story has touched the hearts of every viewer of the Pokémon anime. The flame on Charmander’s tail indicates whether it is healthy. If this flame goes out, it loses its powers.
In today’s Advent special, we tell you the story of Ash’s Charmander and how its flame nearly went out.
How Ash saved Charmander and its flame on its tail
In the anime, Ash and his friends were traveling through a forest. On a rock sat a Charmander. Ash wanted to catch this Charmander as his friends noticed that the flame on Charmander’s tail was small.
However, Charmander did not want to be caught and fended off the Poké Balls.

This is why Charmander did not want to be caught: In hindsight, it turned out that Charmander was waiting for its owner, who left it there because it was too weak for him. Nevertheless, Charmander waited hopefully for its trainer.
When Ash and his friends arrived in a town, they met Charmander’s trainer, who mocked the Pokémon. It would sit there and wait, even though it was totally weak.
Ash saved Charmander: Furious, Ash and his friends stormed outside, where a storm was raging. They found Charmander sitting on the same rock, its flame almost extinguished.
Every fan of the Pokémon anime remembers this scene and still gets goosebumps thinking about it.

The friends took Charmander and brought it to a Pokémon Center, where it was healed. However, it fled from there to return to its trainer.
On its escape, it saved Ash and his friends from Team Rocket. This was also observed by its trainer, who suddenly wanted Charmander back.
This is why Charmander was strong: When Charmander realized that its trainer had intentionally left it behind, it joined Ash and defeated its old trainer alongside Ash’s Pikachu.
From then on, it became a companion of Ash and even evolved into Charizard during the course of the story.

The story touched Pokémon fans right in the heart back then. A Pokémon that had waited so loyally for its trainer and was nonetheless disregarded was still a strong fighter. People loved it.
Charmander, Charmeleon, and Charizard in Pokémon GO
Charmander in Pokémon GO: Especially Charizard is a strong Pokémon in Pokémon GO. It is the best non-legendary Fire-type Pokémon. Charizard reaches a maximum of 2889 CP and has a very good attack value. If you haven’t leveled a Charizard yet, you can’t go wrong by starting now.
Shinies Exist: In May 2018, the Community Day featured Charmander. Since then, the Fire-type Pokémon can be found as Shiny. Especially the black Charizard is recognizable.
Is Charizard interesting for PvP? A Charizard that is not yet fully leveled to 40 can definitely be interesting for PvP. In the Great League, where Pokémon may have a maximum of 2500 CP, Charizard is one of the best Fire attackers.
