In a few days, this year’s holiday event will start in Pokémon GO. We at MeinMMO have looked at what to expect from this event, what special features there will be, and which new Pokémon you can look forward to.
What kind of event is this? The year is coming to an end, and the holidays are just around the corner. A reason for Niantic to celebrate the last days of 2021 with a special holiday event. During this time, you will encounter numerous Pokémon, cool bonuses, and even a new Pokémon.
When does the holiday event take place? The event runs from December 16, 2021 at 10:00 AM local time until December 31, 2021 at 8:00 PM local time. According to Pokémon GO, there will once again be two separate event parts (via pokemongolive.com):
- Part 1 of the holiday event: from December 16, 2021 at 10:00 AM to December 23, 2021 at 8:00 PM
- Part 2 of the holiday event: from December 23, 2021 at 10:00 AM to December 31, 2021 at 8:00 PM
All Pokémon for the Holiday Event 2021
During the holiday event, numerous Pokémon will be waiting for you. You will discover not only shiny variants but also a few costumed Pokémon. Additionally, a new Pokémon will make its debut in the game in the second part.
All Pokémon that you can encounter in their shiny form during the event have been marked with an (*).
The new Pokémon Arktip
In the 2nd part of the holiday event, which starts on December 23, a new Pokémon will make its debut in the game: Arktip. This Ice-type Pokémon is from the 6th generation and can evolve into Arktilas. Visually, Arktip resembles a small iceberg. However, the shiny version will not initially be found in Pokémon GO.

The Costumed Pokémon
Of course, some Pokémon have dressed up for the occasion and are wearing costumes. In addition to Pikachu, Botogel, Petznief, and Damhirplex, this year, Seemops and Glaziola have also dressed up nicely.
All Spawns and Shinys in the First Part of the Holiday Event
During the holiday event, Niantic has adjusted the wild spawns and raid bosses. These vary by event section. In the first part, you will encounter the following specimens:

Also in the second part of the event, there will be special wild spawns and raids again. You can encounter the following Pokémon starting December 23:
- in the wild: Pikachu with Christmas hat*, Quiekel*, Christmas Damhirplex*, Christmas Botogel*, Schneppke*, Christmas Seemops*, Shnebedeck*, Gelatini, Christmas Petznief* and somewhat rarer Alola Vulpix*, Frigometri, and Arktip
- Level-1 Raids: Pikachu with Christmas hat*, Alola Vulpix*, Christmas Seemops*, Christmas Petznief* and Galar-Flampion*
- Level-3 Raids: Lapras*, Christmas Damhirplex*, Christmas Botogel*, Christmas Glaziola*
- Level-5 Raids: Kyurem*
- Mega Raids: Mega Rexblisar*

All Bonuses for the Holiday Event 2021
During the holiday event, you can look forward to various bonuses. Which bonuses there will be and when you will receive them are summarized below:
Full Event Period
A large part of the bonuses can be used throughout the entire holiday event. You can look forward to the following:
- Space for a maximum of 40 gifts in the item bag
- daily limit for opening gifts increased to 45
- Mega Rexblisar receives a CP boost
- Grunts from Team GO Rocket will focus more on Water and Ice-type Pokémon
- New special research on “Season of Origin”
- Postcard book as a new feature
- Holiday Cup in the GO Battle League
- New stickers when spinning PokéStops, from gifts, and in the in-game shop
- New avatar items:

- Festive Jacket
- Festive Shorts
In the in-game shop, the following boxes will be waiting for you throughout the entire event:
- Special box with 50 Poké Balls, 2 Premium Battle Passes, 2 Super Incubators, and 3 Star Pieces for 480 PokéCoins
- Hyper Box with 25 Ultra Balls, 18 Raid Passes, 5 Super Incubators, and 5 Incense for 1,480 PokéCoins
- Adventure Box with 18 Super Incubators, 2 Incubators, 2 Incense, and 4 Star Pieces for 1,480 PokéCoins
Part 1 of the Holiday Event
In the first part of the event, there is only one special bonus for you: special event field research. As usual, you will receive these by spinning the PokéStops during this time.
In the rewards, you can expect the following encounters: Pikachu with Christmas hat*, Alola Vulpix*, Quiekel*, Christmas Damhirplex*, Christmas Seemops*, Christmas Petznief* and Frigometri.

Part 2 of the Holiday Event
During the last part of the event, there will be a few additional bonuses waiting for you. These mainly include special quests and also offer you a special mini-event:
- On the first spin of the day at a PokéStop, you will receive an incubator
- two limited research tasks (reward: encounter with Galar-Pantimos)
- Event field research
- Encounters with Pikachu with Christmas hat*, Alola Sandam*, Quiekel*, Christmas Damhirplex*, Christmas Seemops*, Christmas Petznief*, and Galar-Flampion*
- Collector’s challenge starting December 25, 2021 (Quiekel, Schneppke, Seemops, Shnebedeck, Gelatini, Petznief)

- Trading distance is 40 km
