The first details about the major Pokémon GO Tour: Hoenn have been revealed. The event will take place on-site in Las Vegas and subsequently worldwide. We will show you the dates and the currently known contents as well as ticket prices.
What kind of event is this? The Pokémon GO Tour will enter its third round in February 2023. The Kanto Tour took place in 2021, and the Johto Tour in 2022. Hoenn Tour 2023 worldwide – Proto-Forms, Shiny Jirachi and more
When does it start? On February 25 and 26, 2023, from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm local time.
Which Shinys are available? Typically, shiny versions of the previously released Hoenn Pokémon will be available. We show you all new Hoenn Shinys for the tour event in overview.
Special Research and Masterpiece Research
The special research: Together with Rhi, you will participate in a special research focused on the Hoenn region. You are to delve into the stories surrounding the red and blue gemstones. The items are associated with Proto-Kyogre and Proto-Groudon. These two new forms for Groudon and Kyogre were teased by Niantic in the season overview.
During the global event of the Hoenn tour, you will see the proto-evolutions of Groudon and Kyogre for the first time.
Masterpiece research: During the event, you can participate in the masterpiece research “Fulfilled Wish.” However, this is paid (price currently unknown). If you complete it, you will be rewarded with a shiny Jirachi.
A masterpiece research that leads to shiny Jirachi in fewer steps is available for trainers who purchase a ticket and participate in the event in Las Vegas on February 18 and 19. Trainers with this shorter masterpiece research cannot purchase the longer global masterpiece research.
Additionally, there are field research tasks that provide mega energy and ghost Pokémon.
Medal Choice – Sapphire or Ruby?
Select medal: In previous tours, you could choose between different versions of the event. This affects the Pokémon you encounter. In the Hoenn Tour, you can choose between the Ruby Medal and the Sapphire Medal. With this decision, certain contents will change. What those are, Niantic will reveal later.
If you participate in both events: The medal you choose for the Hoenn Tour in Las Vegas will also apply to the global event.
New Proto Raids and Raid Overview
Pokémon in raids: For the first time, there will be proto raids in Pokémon GO. There you will encounter the described proto forms of Groudon and Kyogre. In the following table, you will see all raids that will be active during the global Hoenn Tour:
| Raid Level | Bosses |
| 1 | Treecko* Torchic* Mudkip* |
| 5 | Deoxys Normal* Deoxys Attack* Deoxys Defense* Deoxys Speed* |
| Proto-Raids | Proto-Kyogre* Proto-Groudon* |
Update: After the announcement, Niantic changed the shiny indicator for Proto-Kyogre and Proto-Groudon. In the first version, this was not visible. After the update, Niantic confirmed the shinies.
