In the game files of Pokémon GO, a new image of the Regi Trio has surfaced. This makes a possible return likely. Players already have good theories about it: The Regi Trio could return in a live event, consisting of Regirock, Regice, and Registeel.
What was found? The image shows all three Regis, namely Regirock, Regice, and Registeel. It was discovered in the game files and has not yet appeared in the Pokémon GO app itself.
Now, one can speculate that the Regi Trio will return in the near future. They might also bring Regigigas with them, as it is the leader of the Regis.
Possible return of the Regi Trio – What could come?
This is suspected: A few days ago, players found clues about an upcoming live event in the files. A ticket for the event “A Colossal Encounter” was discovered. Trainers suspect the Pokémon Regigigas behind it, as it is also called “the colossal Pokémon”.
Regigigas is one of the few missing Pokémon from Generation 4.
Now the image of the Regi Trio appears, and some trainers draw a parallel. Stealthless says on Reddit: “I suspect that the tasks before the encounter with Regigigas will be as follows: Catch 1 Regirock, Catch 1 Regice, Catch 1 Registeel.”
So, in connection with the live event, one might first catch all 3 Regis before getting the chance to catch Regigigas. This was already the case in console games of Pokémon: You could only encounter Regigigas if you had all 3 other Regis in your possession.

This is also conceivable: A simple return of the Regi Trio to the raids would likely not satisfy many players. After all, the 3 Pokémon were already very unpopular during the first introduction in summer 2018, as they were not effective in battles.
It is quite conceivable that they would also introduce the shiny versions. This way, all trainers would at least have the incentive to invest raid passes for these 3 Pokémon.
