In the Level 5 raids, the monsters of the Lake Trio can currently be found in Pokémon GO. However, only Mesprit can be caught here in Germany. We at MeinMMO have looked at how you can get Selfe and Tobutz, and we’re showing you how.
What kind of Pokémon are they? The Lake Trio consists of the three legendary monsters Mesprit, Selfe, and Tobutz. These are from Generation 4 and are Psychic-type.
How to get Selfe and Tobutz
Since the Pokémon of the Lake Trio are regional monsters, you can currently only find them in the Level 5 raids of their respective regions. With Mesprit, this is not a problem, as it faces you as a raid boss here in Europe.
It’s different with Selfe and Tobutz, as they are native to other regions. You can only find Selfe in Asia and the Pacific. Tobutz appears in America and Greenland in the raids. However, thanks to the remote raid passes now available in Pokémon GO, you can still get Selfe and Tobutz.
Simply have other trainers invite you to these raids. We have looked at how you can find international friends in Pokémon GO, and we have summarized all the information for you below.
PokéGenie
PokéGenie is an external app that you can download from your PlayStore or AppStore. It allows you to be invited to certain raids by other trainers. You can select your desired raid and get ready for an invitation. We’ll show you how it works:
First, you need to sign up for PokéGenie. As you can see in the image below, you will then have the option to click the “Raids” button on the homepage. A list of currently ongoing raids will appear there.
Select your desired raid here. Once a corresponding raid has been published by another trainer, you will enter a lobby. Now you need to send a friend request to the inviting trainer and just wait for the invitation.
Using the “Queue” display, which is listed under each raid, you can see how many people are also waiting for an invitation.
PokéRaids
PokéRaids is also an external app that you can download from your PlayStore or AppleStore. The principle is similar to that of PokéGenie. First, you need to sign up in the app. For this, you will need an email address, your trainer name, your level, and your friendship code.
Once that’s done, you can choose from a variety of raids. However, these are very sought after, so you need to be quick to secure a spot in the raid room. If you make it into the room, you can add the group leader. Their friendship code is automatically copied to the clipboard as soon as you start Pokémon GO. Now you just need to wait for the raid invitation.
Alternatively, similar to PokéGenie, you can also select an automatic assignment to a desired raid. However, you will need to have collected or purchased coins in the app beforehand. You can collect them, as shown in the right part of the previous image, through a daily reward.
To ensure a smooth process, you should write a note in the chat once you have added the group leader and are ready for the raid. This is indicated in some chats by the term “anr” or “added and ready”.
Other Opportunities
But external apps are not the only way to make international friends. On various platforms, you have the opportunity to enter your friendship code or select existing codes from a list and send corresponding friend requests.

Also, on Twitter, some Pokémon GO trainers are looking for international friends. Especially the Asian community is very active here. Under the hashtag #PokemonGOraid, numerous friendship codes are posted with requests for invitations. Many offer to invite you to their regional raids.
