In Pokémon GO you can encounter the new Pokémon Garstella since the start of Fashion Week. We at MeinMMO have looked at how you can find the monster, what evolution it has, and how strong it will become.
Which Pokémon is it? With the start of the event for this year’s Fashion Week, you can encounter the Pokémon Garstella for the first time. But where can you find it? Does it have an evolution? And how strong will it be? We have looked into these questions and will answer them below.
What kind of Pokémon is Garstella?
Garstella is a Poison and Water-type Pokémon from the 7th generation. It has a small, purple body, large yellow eyes, and sharp teeth. Its turquoise arms hang down from its head, covered in spikes, resembling hair.
Does Garstella have an evolution? Yes, Garstella can evolve into Aggrostella. You only need 50 candies for that. You can recognize its evolution by its small purple body. However, the turquoise arms of Garstella have wrapped around the body of Aggrostella like huge tentacles, providing protection.
Can you catch Shiny Garstella? No, Garstella and Aggrostella are currently not available in their shiny forms in the game. If that changes in the future, you will recognize the two monsters by their orange body and pink arms.

Where can you find Garstella?
You can find Garstella in the wild and in Level-1 raids throughout Fashion Week. For the latter, you should ideally use Pokémon of the types Ground, Electric, and Psychic, as the Poison and Water-type Pokémon is particularly weak against them.
Additionally, you can also get Garstella through the rewards from event quests. Keep an eye out for the following tasks to secure the new monster (via leekduck.com):
- Land 5 great throws
- Land 3 good curveball throws in a row
Can you also catch Aggrostella? No, Aggrostella can only be evolved. To gather as many candies for an evolution, it is advisable to catch Garstella with a Nanab Berry since this will yield double candies.
How strong are Garstella and Aggrostella?
Garstella: The small Pokémon is not particularly strong. It can use Poison Sting and Sludge Bomb, which would deal good damage to the opponent, but it cannot convince with its stats in attack, stamina, and defense, making it unsuitable for use in raids and the GO Battle League.
Aggrostella: This is different for Aggrostella. The Poison and Water-type Pokémon was already a topic in the community before its release, as trainers feared it would ruin the game. However, the new Pokémon is not quite that dramatic.
Nevertheless, the evolution of Garstella can score with its high defense value. Its attack and stamina are rather weak. Here are its stats:
- Attack: 114
- Defense: 273
- Stamina: 137
With a moveset of Poison Jab, Water Pulse, and Muddy Water, it ranks high in the Great League. However, its attack values are too low for use in raids, so you would be better off using one of the best attackers in Pokémon GO.
