In Pokémon GO, there are changes to the Showcases. We will explain what these are and what rewards you will receive now.
What are Showcases? Showcases are time-limited competitions in Pokémon GO, where you can compare your Pokémon with those of other trainers. In this case, the strongest Pokémon does not win, but for example, the one with the highest weight. Only certain Pokémon species are unlocked for a Showcase. We have already explained how Showcases work.
Now there will be changes to the Showcases. These will affect, among other things, the participating Pokémon and the rewards you can receive.
More choices of Pokémon, rewards for medals
What is changing about the Showcases? The first change to the Showcases concerns the Pokémon that are allowed to participate. Previously, only a few species were unlocked for a Showcase, for example, exclusively Pikachu.
Now there will also be Showcases where multiple Pokémon species from a specific category can participate. So you can take part in Showcases where, for example, all Pokémon of a certain type can compete against each other.
Additionally, Showcases will now be displayed in the Nearby
menu, where you already have a tab for Pokémon
, Raids
, and Routes
. Friendly trainers who participate in the same Showcase as you will also be highlighted on the Showcase leaderboard.
What new rewards are there? If you win a Showcase, you will receive a medal for it. And for these medals, there are now new rewards in the form of avatar items and a Pokémon. The rewards are as follows:
- Bronze (10x Showcases won): Professor Pikachu Headband
- Silver (25x Showcases won): Professor Pikachu Glasses
- Gold (50x Showcases won): Professor Pikachu Pose
- Platinum (100x Showcases won): Encounter with a Professor Pikachu
The Professor Pikachu, which you encounter upon receiving the Platinum medal, has previously not been available in Pokémon GO and is currently only available in this way.
What do you think about the changes and new rewards in Showcases? Are you excited about them? Or are Showcases a feature in the game that you do not use at all?
