Pokémon can learn a second charged move
This is what Pokémon can learn: Your Pokémon can learn a second charged move through the update with the battle mode. You can teach this move to your Pokémon with Stardust and candies.
What does a second charged move bring? The second charged move should give your Pokémon variability. This way, you can not only use a Pokémon that is good against one type but also use a second charged move from another type. Thus, it can cater to two different types.
The second move is supposed to prevent constant switching of Pokémon. The Trainer Battles are meant to become real battles and not consist of constantly switching Pokémon.
Shields for Defense
What is different in Trainer Battles: In Trainer Battles, you cannot dodge. You will take damage from every attack of the opponent permanently.
Can you shield damage differently now? Niantic introduces the defense shield. With this shield, you can absorb almost all damage from your opponent. However, you can only use these shields twice during the entire match. So use them wisely.
This is what makes Trainer Battles so interesting: Niantic has managed to package the monotonous battles in gyms into a better and more dynamic system with Trainer Battles. Now you have to make smart decisions and act wisely to defeat your opponent.
Knowledge about effectiveness is important: Whoever knows more about Pokémon wins. It’s no use to just send in a Stolloss or Lugia into battle. Those who better counter the opponent’s weaknesses will come out as the winner.
