In Pokémon GO there is a reason to celebrate. Niantic has changed the raid rewards after much criticism. There are now more special candies again.
This was the trigger: In mid-November, Niantic suddenly reduced the rewards for legendary raids. Instead of getting 3-bundle packs, players only received 1-bundle packs from the raids.
In return, they increased the bundles for 3- and 4-star raids. There, players suddenly received special candies in double-digit amounts. This angered many fans, as the then-current boss Kobalium was already uninteresting. Worse rewards were not well received there.
How the raid rewards have changed
This is new now: After sharp criticism was voiced, Niantic is now responding a few weeks later with a buff to the rewards.
They announced on Twitter that the special candies in legendary raids are back to what they were before the change. Additionally, there will now be guaranteed Charge TMs from level 4 raids.
This means the change now: Legendary raids are therefore worth it much more again. Regardless of the Pokémon in the raids, you can now collect more rare items to level up your Pokémon.
Moreover, level 4 raids remain interesting. Players who still need Charge TMs just have to participate in such a raid. So there is still an incentive here as well.
How are players reacting to this? Trainers are relieved by it. Many players also find this change long overdue. During the previous change, hardly anyone understood why Niantic took this step.
Now it’s being said by trainers on reddit that Niantic is making an announcement about something that should never have been changed.
How many special candies are there now? From legendary raids, you can now get over 20 special candies. So, per legendary raid, 4-8 bundles are completely randomly chosen. With the special candies, thanks to the change, there are only 3-bundle packs now.
