There might soon be a solution for this. Dataminers have found hints that your buddy will soon be able to bring gifts that you can send.
Dataminers show how to solve the gift problem
This is what has been found: The dataminers found the following text file: “Your buddy has been exploring and has brought back some gifts. Why not send some to your friends!”
This is a clear indication that your buddy will soon be looking for gifts. You won’t need to leave your house and can receive gifts without spinning PokéStops.
Why is this feature so important? Right now, players are especially dependent on gifts from other players. They currently contain significantly more balls and are important if you want to catch some Pokémon from home.
However, if only a few trainers receive gifts regularly, it creates a bottleneck and some trainers don’t receive any gifts at all.
When you receive gifts from your buddy, you can easily forward these to your friends so that every player has enough gifts available.
Has this change been officially confirmed? So far, this is just a leak from dataminers. However, Niantic has already announced that your buddy will soon play a more important role. So this change would fit.
It is still unclear when exactly this change will be implemented in the game. However, it could be soon, as it is already present in the game’s files in the current version.
