In Pokémon GO today, on Sunday, July 30, 2023, the next Community Day focusing on Quapsel is taking place. We will show you what content and bonuses you can expect.
What kind of event is this? During the Community Day, a specific Pokémon is the focus for several hours. In this case, it is Quapsel.
This is not particularly rare, but it offers a new move for its evolutions Quappo and Quaxo on C-Day. Especially the move Counter is interesting for Quappo and makes the Community Day surprisingly strong.
When is the Community Day with Quapsel? It starts on Sunday, July 30, 2023, at 2:00 PM local time and runs until 5:00 PM. You have three hours to participate.
Here we show you how to make the most of the event.

Who is the Community Day with Quapsel worth it for?
Quapsel is not a particularly rare Pokémon, but due to the moves available during the event, it is worth evolving mainly to Quappo.
Can Quapsel be Shiny? Yes, you can catch the tadpole Pokémon Quapsel as a shiny variant. The chances are increased during the event and after a gym victory until 10:00 PM. Here you can check out the visual adjustments:
How strong is Quapsel? Quapsel itself does not play a significant role; its evolution is much more useful. Quappo is a strong monster in the PvP league. Thanks to the Community Day, Quappo can also learn Counter if you evolve it from Quaputzi during the event or up to 5 hours afterwards.
In the subreddit “TheSilphRoad” about Pokémon GO, this is generating excitement. A user explains that this would elevate a decent candidate in the league to an absolute meta pick (via Reddit). The PvP expert JRE47 also emphasizes based on PvPoke simulations that Quappo will be really powerful in the league (via Reddit).
How to prepare for the Community Day
Bring empty incubators: If you have any eggs hatching now, you should ensure that your incubator(s) are empty on Sunday. This way, you can select the eggs during the event and hatch them four times faster.
More items: Having enough Poké Balls for catching is important. We recommend having about 200 to 300 on hand. You can also use Razz Berries to grab more additional candies.
Mega Pokémon for more candies: If you have an appropriate Mega evolution active, you will receive more candies for your catches.
Since Quapsel is a Water type, you will need an appropriate Mega evolution of this type. The following are suitable:
- Mega Blastoise
- Mega Gyarados
- Mega Lapras
- Mega Swampert
- Primal Kyogre
Clear space: Prepare space in your Pokémon collection so that you don’t have to send off many monsters during ComDay. Use the filter function. With the search term
- “0*, 1*, 2*”
the game will show you only monsters that are worse than 2 stars.
