On Saturday, the next Community Day will take place in Pokémon GO. This time, Ponita awaits you in 2 different forms.
What kind of event is this? A Community Day is an event that takes place every month. There is a Pokémon that is in focus and appears in very high numbers. Additionally, there are some bonuses during the event, including a significantly increased Shiny chance.
The Community Day in September 2024 will bring you Ponita. Not only the regular form of Ponita will be found, but also the Galar variant. Both Pokémon have an evolutionary stage with Gallopa and Galar-Gallopa.

Additional content during the Community Day: After the event ends, you have time until 10:00 PM to challenge 4*-raids. If you defeat a Ponita here, additional Ponita will appear around the Arena for 30 minutes. These raids cannot be completed via remote raid.
You also have the option to purchase a special research for 1 $ (approximately 1 €). Here you can expect 3 special candies, 1 star piece, and additional items. You will also receive additional encounters with (Galar-)Ponita and its evolution.
Who benefits from the Community Day with Ponita?
For collectors: If you still need the Shiny variants of both Ponita and their evolutions in your Pokédex, you should take advantage of the event. You probably won’t get a better chance anytime soon.
Due to the high number of spawns and the increased Shiny chance, this event is optimal to snag these Shiny Pokémon.
For fighters: Neither of the two Ponita forms and evolutions are particularly strong attackers for raids and, correspondingly, are not found on the list of the best attackers in Pokémon GO. Unfortunately, these monsters are not suitable for that.
In the battle leagues, it looks a bit different. The regular Gallopa can place itself in the solid midfield in the Ultra League and is a conceivable option here, even if it isn’t the best one.
Galar-Gallopa may not score in the regular battle leagues, but it is the undisputed number 1 in the Psychic Cup (Great League) on pvpoke.com.
Since the Psychic Cup is just around the corner and takes place from September 17 to September 24, you can use the event well to get a strong specimen.
The perfect preparation for the Community Day in September 2024
Create space: To have enough space for the large number of Ponita, you should clean up your Pokémon box accordingly beforehand and make space. If your box fills up during the event, use a simple trick to quickly sort out Pokémon.
Prepare items: Your item supplies should also be prepared accordingly to make the most of the event.

- Sananabeeren: By using Sananabeeren, you can receive double the amount of candies when catching. Given the already increased amount of candies during Community Day, you can even receive four times the amount of candies through Sananabeeren.
- Incense and Lure Module: These two items can bring you additional Ponita spawns. If you activate them during the event, the duration is increased to 3 hours.
Which Mega Pokémon are worth it for the event? If you have a suitable, active Mega evolution during the event, you will receive additional experience points and an extra candy when catching.
As Ponita is of Fire type in its regular form and Psychic type in its Galar form, you must choose either a Mega evolution of Fire type or Psychic type.
