You take over arenas and battle trainers at PokéStops – “Team Rocket” events could provide a lot of fun in Pokémon GO!
Currently, Pokémon GO revolves around catching and collecting the various Pokémon that exist in the game. Even world travels are being organized to complete the Pokédex. After catching all Pokémon, the fun of the game might decrease, as you have one less goal.
The Reddit user metalslug53 now had the idea to incorporate “Team Rocket” invasions into the game to spice things up.
Global events where teams and players must unite
Collaboration during nearby events brings variety to the competition that otherwise exists between Team Red, Yellow, and Blue. Because when Team Rocket is nearby, competitors must also stick together to fight the evil collectively. The fan idea is:
- Arenas are taken over by “Team Rocket” members. Players are alerted to the presence of a “Team Rocket” hot air balloon above an arena. This way, all trainers nearby know that their assistance is needed.
- To drive the villains out of the arena, players must work together to defeat the strong Pokémon that Team Rocket has placed in the arenas.
- In a Reddit thread on the topic, it was also suggested that certain events require one member from each of the 3 teams to win against Team Rocket.
- Team Rocket NPCs (i.e., non-human characters/AI) could appear near PokéStops and challenge trainers nearby to Pokémon battles. This would also create a battle system outside of arenas where you can train yourself and your Pokémon.
With these ideas, not only would player unity be promoted, but it would also bring more variety to the game. Random events would encourage trainers to be more spontaneous.
Rewards for battles against Team Rocket
Players receive even more motivation in the fight against evil when there are the right rewards for them. The creator of the idea, metalslug53, has also thought about this.
- Rewards come in the form of Pokémon candies, Stardust, and XP points for all Pokémon used in the battle.
- For reclaiming an arena, trainers could be rewarded with Lucky Eggs or incubators.
Defeating Giovanni, the leader of Team Rocket, brings the main prize in the form of PokéCoins.
This idea has a lot of potential that Niantic could use to make Pokémon GO even more versatile. Another way to earn the coveted coins, Stardust, and candies would be welcomed by many players. With a mobile Pokémon Center, you can ensure you won’t run out of juice during the battle.
