The Pokémon GO Fest in Sapporo is happening next weekend. Most of the content can only be experienced on-site – but at least everyone can participate in the global challenge.
What kind of event is this? The Pokémon GO Fest in Sapporo, Japan, is the last of three local GO Fest events this year. Previously, there were similar events in Berlin and Seattle.
In Japan, there are, for example, bonuses like special spawns, a special research task, and the Ultra Beast Voltriant, which has not been available until now – with one exception. However, you must be on-site to receive these bonuses.
However, as with previous events, there will also be a global challenge and a collector’s task.
Global challenge secures the Hyperbonus for everyone in Pokémon GO
Update, August 5, 08:00 AM: The global challenge is live. All trainers around the world must complete 30,000,000 field research tasks together. Then the bonuses will be unlocked.
When does the challenge run? The global challenge started on Friday, August 5, at 01:00 AM local time in Germany. That corresponds to 08:00 AM in Sapporo – hence the unusual start time. It ends on Sunday, August 7, at 01:00 PM German time.
Why should you participate? Once the global challenge is completed, the Hyperbonus will be unlocked for all trainers around the world. So far, the following information is known about it:
- There are double catch Stardust for the rest of the challenge. The earlier it is completed, the longer the bonus will last.
- The Bug Catching Event is expected to be improved. It starts on August 10. The exact nature of the bonus is still unclear, but at least Icognito is likely to play a role.
- The last Hyperbonus for instance, included a Raid Day with Hisui-Washakwil.
- The Community Day with Galar-Zigzachs will also receive a Hyperbonus. Details are still pending here as well.
Shortly after the completion of the challenge, Niantic is expected to announce what kind of bonus we can expect.
There is another task: During the GO Fest in Sapporo, there will also be a collector’s challenge for all trainers around the world. It runs from August 5 at 08:00 AM to August 7 at 08:00 PM local time.
You need to catch monsters that also spawn during the GO Fest Sapporo. This includes Paras, Knofensa, Hoppspross, Sonnkern, Kinoso (Sonnenform), and Waumboll.
The completion should yield a few rewards and progress on the collector’s medal.
After the Sapporo Fest, there will be another GO Fest event this year: the global GO Fest Finale 2022, for which some information has now also been revealed.
