Pokémon GO is launching a Valentine’s Day event and uses the occasion to distribute some exciting Pokémon for collectors. We take a look at the event!
When does the Valentine’s Day 2026 event take place? The event in Pokémon GO starts on Tuesday, February 10 at 10:00 AM. It ends on Sunday, February 15 at 8:00 PM. Thus, it runs over Valentine’s Day on February 14.
What’s included in the event? Basically, you will get double XP for each catch and double Stardust when opening gifts during the event. But there are also some Pokémon to catch!
During the Valentine’s Day event, it seems to be less about strong attackers and more about cool Pokémon for collectors. We will show you what to expect from the event.
Which Pokémon should you catch during Valentine’s Day 2026 in Pokémon GO?
The following monsters are particularly exciting:
- Nidoran (male): Has an increased shiny chance in the wild and when hatching from eggs. It evolves into Nidorino and Nidoking.
- Nidoran (female): Also has an increased shiny chance in the wild and in eggs. It evolves into Nidorina and Nidoqueen.
- Kikugi: Has an increased chance of being shiny when you hatch it.
Additionally, there are two special forms that have not been available in the game for a long time and are appearing again in this event:
- Coiffwaff can be transformed into its heart-shaped form during the event. For this, you need 25 Coiffwaff candies and 10,000 Stardust. Choose the Pokémon and tap on
Change form
. - Pandir can be caught with a heart pattern – but only after a global challenge has been completed that revolves around sending gifts. As a reward for the challenge, a limited research task with the mentioned Pandir, an XP bonus when catching that gives you 750 XP for a curveball catch, and the potential to receive special candies from gifts await.
Additional Bonuses in the Event
Exclusive Move: You can obtain the move Synchronoise for Gallade and Gardevoir when you evolve a Kirlia. Gallade and Gardevoir will also appear in 3-star raids and have this move after being caught.
Pokémon in 7km Eggs: Nidoran (male or female), Pii, Fluffeluff, Kikugi, and Wonneira – all can be shiny if you’re lucky.
Pokémon in the wild: Nidoran (male and female), Coiffwaff, and Ohrdoch – they can all be shiny as well.
Otherwise, there are currently also new features in Pokémon GO outside of events. You can now view a map of all PokéStops and Gyms around the world through the Wayfarer program.
