In Pokémon GO, after months of abstinence, Ninjatom is finally available again. You can now catch the Pokémon once during the Hoenn event.
This is Ninjatom: The Pokémon from the 3rd generation first appeared in November 2018. There, you could receive it through a research breakthrough for a month.
After that, Ninjatom disappeared again, and you haven’t been able to obtain it since then. Anyone who started after November 2018 likely still has a gap in their PokéDex unless they traded for it.
But now Ninjatom is back! The Hoenn event brings you the rare Pokémon exactly once.
How to get Ninjatom in the Hoenn event
Here is where you can encounter it: In the new special research surrounding the Hoenn event, you will receive the encounter with Ninjatom as a reward.
Specifically, you need to reach level 5 of 9 for that. Completing the task “Land 3 great throws” will reward you with Ninjatom. You can use as many balls as you want. Ninjatom cannot flee.
Why you should take the chance: For many trainers, it comes as a surprise that they can suddenly catch Ninjatom. After all, there have been several events where you could obtain Nincada and Ninjask, but Ninjatom was never part of it.
Although Ninjatom is the evolution of Nincada, you cannot obtain it through evolution. You must catch it directly, which has not been possible since November 2018.
You should aim to reach at least step 5/9 to catch Ninjatom. No one knows when the rare Pokémon will return to Pokémon GO thereafter.
How strong will Ninjatom be? Unfortunately, the Pokémon is not very useful. It has a solid attack value of 153 but only a HP value of 1. It will be defeated very quickly and can generally only reach a maximum of 393 CP.
So it’s purely a PokéDex entry for you. If you already have this, then Ninjatom may not be that exciting. However, there might be something else exciting at the Hoenn event. After all, there are 9 new quests and exciting spawns.
