The Rocket Boss in Pokémon GO is making the birds spin. However, not all Crypto-Articunos have been caught yet.
This is what’s happening with Team Rocket: With the beginning of December, there are also updates from Team Rocket. The new special research “A Growing Challenge” is available for everyone who has already completed “A Long Shadow“.
At least the first steps of the monthly Rocket Challenge proceed exactly as in the first special research. In the end, you will again encounter Giovanni – but the reward looks a bit different.
Crypto-Zapdos is now Giovanni’s trump card
This is what the change looks like: On reddit, the first players report that they are now getting Zapdos from the battle with Giovanni, and no longer Crypto-Articuno.
However, these are still graduates of the special research “A Long Shadow”. This means that those who have not caught Crypto-Articuno so far will not have the chance to do so for now.
This is how the community reacts: This is what players who have not had any success with the old special research are now also noticing. “Giovanni is too rare. I still haven’t found him. I guess that means goodbye Articuno,” reports user OrigamiArturo.
“Damn. No Crypto-Articuno for me,” also laments serbeardless about the missed opportunity. Others are now excited that they might be able to snag Crypto-Zapdos twice with the new special research: “Zapdos looks much cooler as a Crypto-Pokémon compared to Articuno,” thinks Frouthefrou.
Many now assume that the birds will generally rotate monthly. This would mean that in January, Crypto-Lavados would be next in line.
