Gigantamax Riffex appears in Pokémon GO during the GO Nature Zone. How do you defeat this strong Pokémon?
In Pokémon GO, the great GO Nature Zone is running. As part of this event, you will now also encounter a new Gigantamax boss: Gigantamax Riffex.
Gigantamax bosses are currently the most difficult challenges you can face in Pokémon GO. Therefore, you should go into battle well-prepared if you want to try.
We summarize here the most important tips for battling Gigantamax Riffex.
How do you defeat Gigantamax Riffex? Tips for the battle
Type weakness of Gigantamax Riffex: Gigantamax Riffex is extremely weak against Ground-type attacks. It also has a weakness against Psychic-type attacks, but less than against Ground.
Best counters against Gigantamax Riffex: In particular, two Dynamax Pokémon stand out here due to the type weakness.
- Dynamax Stalobor, with a Ground attack
- Dynamax Metagross, with a Psychic attack
Your Dynamax attack type is determined by your Pokémon’s quick attack. So ensure an appropriate type distribution with a TM.
How many trainers do I need for Gigantamax Riffex? In general, Niantic stated that the necessary number of trainers for Gigantamax battles is 10 to 40 trainers.
Currently, it seems that it can also be done with a little less. However, expect that you will hardly be able to defeat Gigantamax Riffex with fewer than 9 trainers – and you will need very good Pokémon and a good tactic. From 15 to 20 trainers, it will be easier, and the more trainers you have, the easier it gets.
Can I fight from a distance? No, the Gigantamax battle against Riffex can only be fought on-site. Accordingly, it will also be more difficult to gather the necessary trainers. So try mainly in places in your area where many trainers gather if there are any. Alternatively, good coordination is needed.
Not just attacking: Unlike raids, you do not have only the attack here, but also the options Dyna-Wall and Dyna-Spirit available. This protects and heals the Pokémon within your group. Use these options as well, as Gigantamax Riffex can otherwise hit you with strong attacks.
Other options on Riffex: Is Gigantamax Riffex too strong? You still have the chance to get a Riffex. Either evolve the baby Pokémon Toxel, or catch Riffex in raids or normal Dyna battles. However, keep in mind that Riffex then has no chance for the Gigantamax form. The best counters against normal Riffex in raids can be found here.
