In Pokémon GO unusual things are happening right now, which are causing dissatisfaction among parts of the community. What is behind Niantic’s plan to switch to pixel graphics in Pokémon GO?
Surprisingly, the developers of Pokémon GO launched a special event in the game on the evening of March 31. Brand new graphics! But instead of making everything smoother and clearer, there are now rough pixels. Many players are unhappy with this change. Why is Niantic coming up with such ideas now, when everything is going so well?
8-bit instead of 4K – Is retro back in style?
In an official announcement, Niantic stated that they want to provide players with the best possible graphical experience. Starting today, you can test the new graphic engine. The Pokémon GO team proudly emphasizes that they are using 8-bit instead of 4K – which would be about twice the resolution.
With the new graphics, your PokéDex and the “Nearby” list feel like they did in the days of the Gameboy Pokémon games.
Additionally, the developers are asking for player feedback. After all, the feature is new and should provide you with a great experience.
Shiny Kramurx in Pokémon GO
Along with these extraordinary news comes a new shiny discovery. The less popular Kramurx now appears in its shimmering form in Pokémon GO.
The little monster has received little positive attention in the community so far because its stats for raid battles or other important in-game actions are virtually irrelevant. In the following screenshot, you can see the new shiny from Pokémon GO:
Just an April Fools’ Joke
If we look at the date, it should become clear that Niantic has played an April Fools’ joke on the trainers with the graphics. In the community, we already see many comments expressing discontent with the graphics – take it all with a pinch of humor.
After the great new quest feature in Pokémon GO, the developers should also be allowed to express their sense of humor. We assume that the “normal” graphics will soon return to the game. In the meantime, you should quickly catch some shiny Kramurx. Who knows how long they will be in the game.
