Pokémon GO announces its own PvP League. This is how you can climb the leaderboard and get a worldwide ranking.
Niantic announced: The whole thing will run under the name “GO Battle League”. It is the first attempt by the developers to turn the PvP mode into a real competition. Until now, the only incentive was item rewards.
Now you can climb a league and compete with other players worldwide, even if you are not friends with each other.
Everything you need to know about the PvP League
When does it start? Niantic states that the start date is Spring 2020. So it will take a little while, and you have time to train and strengthen your Pokémon.
This is what has been revealed about the system: There is still not much information available. We summarize here what Niantic has already announced:
- You need to walk certain distances to participate in the GO Battle League
- In an online system, you will fight against trainers from around the world
- You can climb a league rank and compete with other trainers
Does this feature change the PvP mode? The PvP feature has only been used intensively by a few trainers. For example, there were tournaments by TheSilphRoad, in which players from Germany also participated time and again. However, the majority was never really large.
Now that Niantic itself organizes such tournaments and you don’t even have to travel to specific locations for it, PvP could gain a higher status in the game.
This is likely to be the most interesting: Especially the league system is expected to attract many players. The mode was criticized for the fact that even the loser receives the same reward. Now only winners could be rewarded and climb ranks.
The Pokémon Company has recently shown that the PvP mode also plays a role in their World Championships, and that is exactly where the experts of the PvP League could participate.
What do you think of the PvP League? Will you spend more time on this feature?
