What does the Tour Pass cost? There are two versions.
- The normal Tour Pass is free
- The Tour Pass Deluxe costs 14.99 US dollars (in euros presumably similar)
We are gathering information on how it works and the content that is currently known in this article.
What do the Pokémon GO Tour Pass and Tour Pass Deluxe offer?
How does the Tour Pass work? You are supposed to earn tour points in the game, which will unlock further reward levels in the pass. Points can be earned for catching monsters, raids, and hatching eggs. Larger amounts of points can be obtained through “Pass tasks” that are supposed to appear during the event. New tasks are expected to be available every day. During the actual global tour weekend, there will be hourly new tasks as well.
The free version will be automatically awarded to all trainers on Monday, February 24 at 10:00 AM. All rewards will expire on March 9 at 6:00 PM if not collected beforehand.
What kind of rewards are there? According to the announcement, these include things like Pokémon encounters, candies, Poké Balls, as well as stickers, avatar items, and a special Pokémon encounter at certain milestones. You will encounter Zorua with a special background. Furthermore, the catch XP bonus increases with significant milestones. You can first unlock the 1.5 times, then the double, and finally the triple catch XP bonus. This applies to both versions.
Special features of the Tour Pass Deluxe: The paid pass promises faster, better rewards and also has two special features that are not available in the normal pass at all.
- The Lucky Charm: This is the final reward of the pass. This item gives you one chance to turn one of your friends into a Lucky Friend. This means that during your next trade, you will receive a lucky Pokémon. But be careful, the Lucky Charm will also expire on March 9 at 6:00 PM – even if you have collected it. Therefore, it must be used by then.
- Victini: The Deluxe Pass also includes an encounter with the mysterious Pokémon Victini. It could last be caught in a special research from 2020.
Overall, the Tour Pass resembles the classic battle pass system that many games employ these days. Pokémon GO has not had this format before – now it will be introduced for the first time in a limited period for an event. What do you think about it? Let us know in the comments.
