Today, the Christmas event around the upcoming holidays has started in Pokémon GO. Of course, there are new research tasks. We have looked at which quests you can find and which are particularly worthwhile for you.
What kind of quests are those? When you spin a PokéStop in Pokémon GO, you will receive certain quests, such as the field research tasks in December. For certain events, you can also spin special tasks that are thematically oriented around the event.
For the Christmas event, Niantic has now made 6 new quests available. These are marked with the word “Event”. You can find the tasks in your field view, which you can access by clicking on the binoculars.
How long can you get the quests? The field research tasks for the Christmas event are available during the entire first part of the event. This runs from December 16, 2021, at 10:00 AM to December 23, 2021, at 10:00 AM local time.
6 New Quests for the 1st Part of the Christmas Event
With the start of the first part of the Christmas event, you can encounter 6 new quests in Pokémon GO. These will reward you with some items as well as encounters with a Pokémon.
Of course, the Pokémon of this event are also themed around Christmas and winter, so you will mostly encounter costumed Pokémon. Based on the overview from LeekDuck, we have summarized all the rewards for you below (via leekduck.com).
All monsters that can also be found in their shiny form are marked with an (*).
| Quest | Reward |
| Catch 5 Ice-type Pokémon | Encounter with Christmas-Seemops* |
| Catch 7 different types of Pokémon | Encounter with Alola-Vulpix* |
| Win a Level 3 raid or higher | Encounter with Frigometri |
| Spin 3 PokéStops or Gyms | Encounter with Quiekel* |
| Open 5 gifts | Encounter with Christmas-Pikachu* or Christmas-Damhirplex* or Christmas-Petznief* |
| Send 3 gifts to friends | 3 Pokéballs or 3 Himmihbeeren or 3 Sananabeeren |
Which quests are worth it for the Christmas event?
The new event quests mostly offer you costumed Pokémon. However, these will also spawn in the wild throughout the entire event and are particularly worth it for shiny hunters. However, you should secure the two tasks for Alola-Vulpix and Quiekel. And Frigometri may also be interesting for some trainers.
Alola-Vulpix
The Ice-type Pokémon Alola-Vulpix is not among the strongest monsters in the game. However, it can evolve into Alola-Vulnona. Even though this Pokémon is also not among the best attackers in Pokémon GO, catching it is worthwhile.
According to PvPoke, Alola-Vulnona can score well in the GO Battle League and is thus a good candidate in the Great and Ultra Leagues (via pvpoke.com). So if you often participate in the PvP League, you should secure a strong specimen. Furthermore, you may also encounter a shiny version with a bit of luck.
Quiekel
Quiekel is an Ice and Ground-type Pokémon. It comes from Generation 2 and can evolve into Mamutel via Keifel. Even though Quiekel and Keifel show only average stats, you should take your chance on a strong Quiekel.
Its final evolution, Mamutel, can score with high values in attack and stamina. For this reason, it is one of the best attackers in Pokémon GO. However, it is also well-suited for use in the Master League (via pvpoke.com).
Even if there was recently a spotlight hour with Quiekel and you already caught a strong specimen there, it is still a good and, above all, easy opportunity to farm corresponding candies.
Frigometri
The Ice-type Pokémon Frigometri comes from Generation 5 and has no pre-evolutions or further evolutions. It has average values in stamina and attack. It is strongest in defense. However, it plays no role in raids or the PvP League.
Nevertheless, it is worthwhile for some to secure a corresponding task. The reason is that Frigometri is only rarely found in the wild. So if you do not yet have this monster in your PokéDex, you can secure a guaranteed specimen. Unfortunately, it is not available as shiny yet.
What do you think of the new event tasks? Will you secure one or the other monster from it? Or were you hoping for other Pokémon? Feel free to share your opinion with us here on MeinMMO in the comments and exchange ideas with other trainers about it.
