In Pokémon GO, the Kanto Tour starts in a few weeks and brings some Shinies to the wild. We will show you all the new Gen-1 Shinies that will be released for the event.
What is it about? On the evening of December 8, 2020, Niantic announced a huge event for Pokémon GO. The “Pokémon GO Tour: Kanto” will take place on February 20, 2021. Access to the event can be purchased with a ticket that costs €12.99 in the shop.
The developers of Pokémon GO have already stated that the first 150 Pokémon from the Kanto region will then be available as Shinies. Shiny Mew has also been confirmed, making it a total of 151 Pokémon.
Here we will show you the new Shiny forms that will be released by the time of the event. It is also possible that Niantic will release some of them into the wild prior to the Kanto Tour.
The 7 new Shinies in Pokémon GO
The Kanto Tour brings: Some of the Shinies from the first generation are still missing. During the February event of the Kanto Tour, you can catch them all. Even after the event, these Shiny Pokémon are expected to remain in the game.
Here we will show you the Shinies from the 1st generation that have not yet been catchable in the game but will be included for the Kanto Tour.
The 7 new Shinies are:
- Habitak (+ evolution Ibitak)
- Paras (+ evolution Parasek)
- Kicklee
- Nockchan
- Mew
- Ditto
- Relaxo
What will be exciting: It is unclear how Shiny Ditto will enter the game. There is speculation that it will be available as a reward through a special research task. However, this has not been confirmed by Niantic.
Currently, you can obtain Ditto by catching certain Pokémon that have a chance to reveal themselves as Ditto. However, this does not work for Shinies. It would likely be a problem for many players if their Shinies, which are already rare, could suddenly turn into Shiny Ditto.
That is why there is speculation that Niantic will implement a method for Shiny Ditto without taking away another Shiny from players.
Before the event, you still have time to gather many XP. Niantic announced where you can now get a lot of experience points in Pokémon GO.
